Now being co-hosted on GGPoker and Natural8, the ongoing 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online is witnessing participation from all over the world. The series crowned another champion on Wednesday after South Africa’s Michael ‘YesPlease’ Clacher outran 1,342 players in Event #36 $1.5K Fifty Stack NLHE to walk away with his first WSOP gold bracelet and a $297,496 payday.
Clacher, whose online winnings at GGPoker alone stand at $304,398 after this win, seems to have restricted himself to playing live tournaments in South Africa. He defeated the poker pro Rodrigo ‘PAPAI_PIG’ Dos Santos Caprioli in heads-up play.
India has had a strong connection with the WSOP, and the bond has only grown stronger in the last few years. Indian players have won bracelets each year for the last three years running, and there is a healthy mix of players playing the online series to extend this record to the fourth year.
Getting Team India its first FT finish at the series was ‘Neel’ from Pune, who made a deep run in Event #36. A chemical engineering graduate, Neel has been on a roller coaster run this year. He hit the jackpot three months ago, by finishing runner-up in India`s biggest online tournament to date -PokerBaazi’s ₹5 Crores GTD EndBoss for ₹65.01 Lakhs. While that remains Neel’s personal-best score to-date, Neel came within striking distance of improving upon that record earlier today. His bracelet run came to an end in sixth place at the hands of Olivier ‘BigPapyBoss’ Rebello. He collected $59,878 (~₹44.75 Lakhs) for his efforts!
The tourney generated a $1,912,350 prize pool, doling out a payday to the top 188 places.
partypoker Team Pro Jeff ‘muitoforte’ Gross (32nd for $6,347), Liv Boeree (82nd for $4,382), Philip ‘Respect!’ Long (90th for $4,382), Steve O’ Dwyer (99th for $4,382),
Manig Loeser (140th for $3,819), Andrew Neeme (153rd for $3,328), and Kahle Burns (177th for $3,328) were some of the prominent names who scored in the event.
‘profishnal7’ (10th for $16,607) bubbled the final table.
