WSOP Online 2021: Allen Chang Captures His Second Career Bracelet in Event #16: $600 PLO8 6-Handed For $61,394

The WSOP.com-leg of the 2021 WSOP Online Series is now past the mid-way mark, and the latest event of award a gold bracelet was Event #16: $600 PLO8 6-Handed. For the first time in the series, a bracelet winner from the inaugural edition won the prestigious hardware. Brooklyn, New York-based player Allen Chang (cover image) had championed last year’s Event #5 $1,000 NLH Freezeout. Exactly one year and 10 days later, he bagged his career-second WSOP gold bracelet for $61,394!

Chang had the third biggest stack at the start of the final table and eliminated former bracelet winner Andrew Lichtenberger, Chris Leslie-Hynan, and Ryan Stoker on his way to meeting Edwin Roman in the heads-up finale. Chang rode his start-of-heads-up chip lead to the end, and in under 10 minutes of heads-up play, took down the title.

The event attracted 498 total entries to create a $268,920 prize pool. The top 72 places received payouts.

Yueqi “anoob” Zhu (18th for $1,990), Nathan “surfbum” Gamble (31st for $1,398), David “dwpoker” Williams (37th for $1,237), Galen “turkmalloy” Hall (44th for $1,237), and Ryan “Joeyisamush” Depaulo (49th for $1,103) were among the notables who finished ITM.

Final Table Recap

Being the shortest stack on the final table, predictably, former WSOP bracelet winner Andrew “WATCHGUY42” Lichtenberger exited in sixth place when his ran into Allen “Acnyc718” Chang’s that rivered a spades flush on the board .

Chang found his next victim in Chris “pdx2nyc” Leslie-Hynan. The latter’s were no match for Chang’s that hit a Broadway straight on the turn, ending Leslie-Hynan’s run in fifth place.

Less than 20 minutes later, “PiggyBear” was eliminated in fourth place by Edwin “YungFlipWell” Roman.

Finishing in third place was Ryan “Santasbzack2” Stoker when his were bested by Chang’s . The board gave Chang a two pair, sending Stoker to the rail.

Allen “Acnyc718” Chang, a former WSOP Online bracelet winner, was chasing his second gold bracelet and was the on-money favorite at the start of heads-up with a dominating stack of 5,894,220 against Edwin “YungFlipWell” Roman’s 1,575,780. The heads-up lasted for about nine minutes before Chang clinched gold for the second time.

The final hand of the tournament saw Roman raise to 360,000 from the button, and Chang called to see the flop open . Chang led out for 720,000, covering the remaining 575,780 of Roman, and the latter called at the risk of elimination.

Roman was in the lead with a pair of jacks against Chang’s fives. But the turn and river gave Chang a spades flush, knocking Roman out in second place.
