The Sunday attraction at the 2021 WSOP Online Series, Event #18: $1,000 NLH North American Open, was added to the WSOP schedule for the first time. The tournament made a strong debut as it logged in 756 entries on WSOP.com, including 232 rebuys to generate a $692,000 prize pool. It took almost 11 hours of non-stop action before the former WSOP Circuit ring winner James “Danfriel” Gilbert outlasted the competition to win his career-first gold bracelet for $137,570. The start-of-the-final-table chip leader, Landon “ActionDealer” Tice, placed runner-up for $85,047.
Gilbert had won his WSOP Circuit title in 2012, in the $1,125 NLHE at Atlantic City for $50,106. He also has two big WPT scores to his name, a runner-up finish in the 2015 WPT Borgata Poker Open Main Event that fetched him $434,598, and another second-place finish in 2018 WPT Seminole Rock N Roller Poker Open $3,500 NLHE Main Event for $326,565.
The rising star Landon Tice, who conceded defeat to Bill Perkins in their heads-up challenge earlier this month, missed his chance at his first bracelet after finishing in second place.
Tice even tweeted his finish.
2nd in the 1k for 85k.
This time I paid a 6:1 chip deficit to try to get the win, and once again, I paid too much.
Can't complain, what a day.

Final Table Recap
Daniel “st0neydanza” Dagostino was the first player on the final table to hit the rail after losing a flip with ace-king to Brett “furofakind” Shaffer’s pocket jacks. “DLAZ14” was next on the chopping block.
James Gilbert went on a rampage after that. William “swaggyb” Corvino and “tennispro75” were his first two targets, and he added to his stack further after sending Tony “Panoramic” Dunst packing in fifth place.
Armed with an overwhelming chip lead after his elimination spree, Gilbert literally walked over the field as he busted both Felix “madenspauwke” Vandeput and Brett “furofakind” Shaffer single-handedly to set up his heads-up match with Landon “ActionDealer” Tice.
Staring at a 4:1 chip deficit, Tice failed to cover the distance and was relegated to the rail in second place after his king-eight lost out to James Gilbert’s king-ten.
