The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online series has for the better part of the past one-and-half months kept players busy, and action has finally descended upon the most-awaited tournament of the series. Monday saw the first of 23 starting flights of Event #77: $5,000 No Limit Hold`em Main Event play down. With a never-before-seen guarantee of $25 Million, the Main Event holds the distinction of being the most massive online poker tournament in poker history. It promises to award the new world champion a life-changing $5 Million cash prize!
Day 1A of the Main Event brought in 464 players, and after fifteen 30-minute levels, only 99 players made it across to Day 2. Leading the charge was Finland’s Samuel Vousden (cover image).
Vousden’s record of live cashes is only $244,051, but his online repertoire is considerably more vast. In April, Vousden had defeated Germany’s Wiktor Malinowski to win the Poker Masters Online #25 $1 M GTD NLH 8-Max for $520,000. Vousden has seven prior cashes at the ongoing series to his name and carries forward a massive stack of 717,497 to Day 2.
Christian ‘CharlieD23’ Jeppsson (602,774) and former bracelet champion Julien Martini (576,965) are close behind Voudsen.
From the Indian contingent, ‘raavan’ (298,967) and ‘pokerplayer’ (170,053) have made the cut for Day 2.
The other notable stacks making it to Day 2 belong to Grayson ‘TurdFerguson’ Ramage (441,567), Dmitry ‘Altbbb’ Yurasov (400,263), Joshua ‘slayerv1fan’ Hoesel (392,596), Rui Ferrera (385,142), and Alexandros Kolonias (381,459).
Players can fire up to three bullets in the events, so many who busted on Day 1A have two other opportunities to join the action across the remaining flights.
Overall, this has already been a gratifying series for Team India that enjoyed a blockbuster Sunday. An incredible three Indian players posted FT finishes in different bracelet events; the most prominent of them was “Mandovi” who became the first player from India to win the bracelet this year in Event #64: $840 Turbo Bounty NLHE.
