The first-ever 2020 GGPoker World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Super Circuit is now in the books! The series was indubitably a success and capping off the series in style were the last four ring events on the schedule.

The magnum opus of the series was undoubtedly Event #17: Main Event $5M Gtd. After clocking in nearly 10,000 entries, 9,779 to be precise, the event obliterated its advertised guarantee, resulting in a humongous prize pool collection of $9.2 Million. Two Indians made into the top 10, namely ‘Igutu’ and ‘thehulk’. While the latter bubbled the final table, finishing 10th for $49,208, the former fell two places short of claiming the title and placed third for $617,164. The event eventually crowned a champion in Germany’s ‘schimmelgodx’ who banked a mouth-watering $1.2 Million for his win!

The most-awaited PLO event on the schedule was Event #16: PLO Main Event $1M Gtd and the tourney logged in 2,614 entries, raking in a ginormous $2.5 Million prize pool. Grabbing the largest portion of the prize pool kitty was Canada’s ‘rubbherducky,’ who bagged a juicy payday worth $362,619. India’s ‘agentwinner’ finished 11th for $18,623.

Germany’s ‘waransan’ claimed the WSOPC ring in Event #15: Monster Stack $500K GTD and took home $92,866 in top prize, following a three-way deal with ‘DameDolla’ (runner-up for $88,153) and ‘geladinhaRLS’ (3rd for $113,898).

The final event of the series, Event #18: The Closer $500K Gtd [Turbo] saw Mexican player ‘Goblue’ champion the 2,405-strong entry field and bag the most significant portion of the $1.14 Million prize pool worth $168,276.

Event #17: Main Event $5M Gtd

The crème de la crème of the series, the $5 Million guaranteed Main Event, locked in a massive field of 9,779 entries through multiple starting flights, resulting in a colossal $9,290,050 prize pool. Out of all the registered entries, only 1,494 runners advanced to Day 2, with 1,196 spots getting paid.

Less than 30 minutes later, they were down to 800 remaining, and an hour later, they were down to 450. Two more hours later, only 100 players remained in contention for the grand prize.

Indian player ‘thehulk’ was eliminated in 10th place for $49,208, following which the nine-handed final table was set up.

Final Table Recap

Short-stacked ‘Gius2020’ was the first to depart in ninth place. Less than five minutes later, ‘wy77′ was dismissed in eighth place.

Finishing in seventh place was Canada’s ‘MaillouL’. Soon after that, India’s ‘Igutu’ knocked out ‘CoRoNaTi’ in sixth place.

The start of Level 21 saw ‘tepuseenFD’ exiting in fifth place, and in the next level, ‘Juan Pardo Dominguez’ was ousted in fourth place.

Three-handed play continued for 30 minutes before India’s ‘Igutu’ was sent to the rail in third place by ‘Biereux’. Notably, ‘Igutu’ had kicked off the series in style for Team India, when he had finished runner-up in Event #1: COVID Charity 1M Gtd.

The heads-up finale began between ‘Biereux’ (398,585,285) and ‘schimmelgodx’ (88,180,024), with the former commanding a massive lead over the latter. However, the German player continued to fight back and eventually took the lead away from his Canadian rival. It did not take much longer for the event to wrap up.

On the final hand, ‘Biereux’s was bested by ‘schimmelgodx’s which improved to a two pair on the runout .

Event #15: Monster Stack $500K GTD

The Monster Stack $500K GTD was the 15th event of the series and gathered 5,216 entries, creating a prize pool worth $959,744.

The top 863 runners were paid, and following the elimination of ‘DavkaBibi’ in 10th place for $4,693, the nine-handed final table was formed.

‘potamophobia’ was the first casualty of the final table and exited in ninth place.

‘MisterPro’ (8th), ‘Beishadezhu2’ (7th), ‘laolalo’ (6th), and ‘HowdyTeeexas’ (5th) followed soon after.

Down to four-handed play, ‘icho’ was the next player to be eliminated in fourth place.

With three players left, ‘geladinhaRLS’ was sitting with the largest stack of 87,016,852, followed by ‘waransan’ (38,199,331) and ‘DameDolla’ (31,263,817). The three finalists agreed to a deal.

‘geladinhaRLS’ was surprisingly the next player to be eliminated in third place and took home the biggest payout among the three worth $113,897.94.

The heads-up play between ‘waransan’ (117,156,090) and ‘DameDolla’ (39,323,910) began with the former enjoying a sizable lead. Less than 20 minutes later, it was all over, with ‘waransan’ walking away with the title and top prize of $92,865.68.

On the final hand, ‘DameDolla’s lost out to ‘waransan’s which better to a pair of sevens on the board . ‘DameDolla’ had to contend with a runner-up finish for $88,153.32.

Event #16: PLO Main Event $1M Gtd

Featuring a buy-in of $1,000, the PLO Main Event $1M Gtd registered 2,614 entries, leading to a guarantee-smashing prize pool collection of $2,508,000.

The top 368 runners finished in the money, which included several notable names such as India’s ‘agentwinner’ (11th for $18,623), Gavin Cochrane (30th for $6,922), Joao Vieira (43rd for $6,922), Dwayne Sluis (71st for $4,977), GGPoker Ambassador Fedor Holz (79th for $3,763) and Andras Nemeth (91st for $3,763).

Canada’s ‘Ducker11’ bubbled the final table, finishing in seventh place for $50,102.

The six-player final table concluded rather swiftly and in less than an hour, ‘LemonRanger’ (6th), ‘QuarantinPlaya’ (5th), ‘RunItOncePls’ (4th) and ‘jellopy77’ (3rd), had all been eliminated.

The heads-up between ‘rubbherducky’ and ‘Love2Spew’ was short-lived, with the former claiming the top honors.

The final hand saw ‘rubbherducky’s outlast ‘Love2Spew’s , with the board running .

Event #18: The Closer $500K Gtd [Turbo]

The final event of the series, The Closer $500K Gtd, posted a $1,142,375 prize pool on the back of 2,405 entries.

‘plork’s 10th place exit led to the convening of the final table.

Staying true to its turbo format, the eliminations took place in quick successions. ‘Mustlaaaveit’ was the first player to hit the rail in ninth place, followed by ‘lovemestinky’ (8th), ‘Clyde1848’ (7th), ‘HossaBessa’ (6th), ‘Pato Nego’ (5th) and ‘AndyAtTheBike’ (4th).

‘YallaHabibi’s third place elimination, set up the heads-up match between ‘Pokerguy21’ (12,818,096) and ‘Goblue’ (9,951,904). Despite starting the heads-up on the backfoot, Mexico’s ‘Goblue’ successfully bounced back and eventually took down the title.

On the final hand, ‘Pokerguy21’s was defeated by ‘Goblue’s and the latter captured the title and top prize of $168,276.
