The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) played out at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino from February 13 to 25. Closing out the stop was Event #14: $2,200 High Roller that logged in 179 entries. After an action-packed run, the tournament eventually crowned a champion in Martin Zamani (cover image). In addition to taking home his first gold ring, Zamani also pocketed $89,143 for the win.

With this score, his live poker resume now boasts of over $2.1 Million in winnings. “I’m rich,” said a visibly happy Zamani after the event got over. “It wasn’t me that did anything, it was the friends and atmosphere around me that did it.”

Another standout performer at the series was Indian-origin player Jasthi Kumar. A self-proclaimed recreational player and an IT professional, Kumar, is a regular at WSOPC stops in the Thunder Valley and San Jose. He has been in breakout form this month and stormed into the final table – his second in the week. Kumar began final table play second in chips and eventually finished sixth for $14,884 (~₹10.66 Lakhs), taking his live winnings to $1.12 Million.

Kumar took to Twitter to share the news, also reflecting that he has made six final table finishes in the last three stops that include two titles!

 

The event generated $358,000 in prize money, and the top 29 places were paid. Alongside Kumar, Indian origin Ankush Mandavia also made it in the money, finishing 26th for $3,483 (~₹2.49 Lakhs).

Other notables who made it in the money included Stephen Song (12th for $5,941), Aaron Massey (13th for $5,043), Michael Dyer (17th for $3,952), and Louis Salter (28th for $3,483).

Final Table Recap

First up, Thai Ha moved all holding , and Brent Roberts shoved over the top with pocket sevens. No other player called, and Roberts scooped the pot after the board blanked out.

Within 10 minutes, Viet Vo, who had entered the final table as the shortest stack, managed to get a pay jump, and busted in eighth place.

The bust-outs continued at a rapid pace, and another 10 minutes later, Roland Israelashvili’s deep run ended in seventh place.

Indian-origin pro Jasthi Kumar was the next one out in sixth place. Kumar picked up pocket kings and opened. Michael Rossitto woke up with and 3-bet shoved. Kumar made the call putting his tournament life at risk. Rossitto spiked a pair on the turn, ending Kumar’s final table journey.

The next player to head out to the rail was Alex Rocha after receiving a brutal beat. Rocha got it in good with pocket queens against Rossitto’s pocket sevens, but the latter hit a set on the turn.

Shortly after that, Martin Zamani moved all in from the button with , and Brent Roberts decided to make the call from the big blind with . Failing to connect to the board, Roberts departed in fourth place.

Next up, Zamani jammed, and Michael Rossitto called at the risk of his tourney life.

Zamani completed a straight on the rundown , eliminating Rossitto in third place.

The heads-up play between Martin Zamani and Nick Pupillo began with the former holding a healthy chip lead, and he soon took down the title. On the last hand of the tournament, Zamani opened with pocket jacks, and Pupillo announced all-in holding . Zamani immediately called and was named the champion after the board bricked out.
