If you have been keeping tabs on our coverage over the past few months, there is a slim chance you don`t already know who Tumboli is! A family man through and through, the Mumbai-based pro became a father last November, and the new addition to the family seems to have brought him abundant luck.

Tumboli has been on a breakout run since March, having won four live titles in four months! Starting with the BPT High Roller, Tumboli wrote his name into the history books as the first-ever WPT Prime champion after taking down the WPT Prime Main Event title in Vietnam. He carried that form to APT Vietnam Hanoi just weeks after, winning two titles! Tumboli has already won a jaw-dropping ₹1.62 Crores through his live MTT exploits this year, boosting his live tournament earnings to ₹2.40 Crores.

Tumboli joins Spartan Poker a little over two years after India’s poker superwoman and the 2018 WSOP Tag Team bracelet winner Nikita Luther was signed by the site in June 2020.

Welcoming Tumboli to the team, Spartan Poker’s Founder and CEO, Amin Rozani, said, “We are delighted to welcome Zarvan Tumboli as Team Pro at Spartan Poker. The powerhouse of poker talent, Zarvan has achieved great results in his career & will be a fabulous ambassador of the game! With this collaboration, we’re looking forward to growing the amazing community of poker in India.”

PokerGuru caught up with Tumboli, who told us what it meant for him to be joining Spartan Poker as a Team pro.

“I’m quirky, bizarre, and an unusually funny person by nature, but when it comes to grinding at the tables, I also use the power of my skill, character, and temperament to decide my next move. Come, join me and live the Spartan way because here we live in every move.”

Zarvan Tumboli’s Poker Journey

A well-known face on the domestic circuit, Tumboli’s poker journey began in 2008. He, like many others, started by playing Zynga poker on Facebook. He gradually moved on to hosting home games and organizing bigger cash games.

The live tournament reg won his first title in 2015 when he shipped the IPC ₹10K Freezeout for ₹4.70 Lakhs. Two years later, he won titles at the 2017 APT Macau and the Asia Championship of Poker – Platinum Series XIX (ACOP), Macau.

The same year, Tumboli decided to take the plunge by turning pro, and later that year was onboarded as a brand ambassador for the now-defunct online poker site, MadOverPoker.

A little over a year after turning pro, Tumboli won the prestigious WPT title in Event 3: NLHE Ho Chi Min Cup. In 2020, he came close to winning his second IPC title in the ₹100K High Roller, where he finished runner-up to Anmol Srivats to collect ₹30.59 Lakhs.

Zarvan Tumboli’s Heater of a Lifetime

There can be no denying that Zarvan Tumboli has been on a heater this year. His domination started in March when he took down the 2022 BPT ₹100K Highroller for ₹50.03 Lakhs.

The significant bankroll boost almost made his WSOP dreams a reality before visa issues derailed those plans. But what had initially seemed like a missed opportunity turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Tumboli storm hit Vietnam leading to a whirlwind of deep runs and title wins, netting him over ₹1.10 Crores in a matter of three weeks!

About two months after shipping the BPT High Roller, Tumboli became the first-ever WPT Prime Main Event champion! He had entered the inaugural WPT Prime Vietnam Main Event final table as the overwhelming chip leader. He went wire-to-wire, besting the record 777-player field and beating out 2018 WPT India Main Event champion, PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Munot, heads-up for a career-best VND 3.050 Billion (~₹1.02 Crores) payday!

Not stopping, Tumboli carried his indomitable form to 2022 APT Vietnam Hanoi, where he cashed four events, including two APT trophies. Tumboli kicked off his APT Vietnam Hanoi campaign with an eighth-place finish in Event #9: NLHE High Rollers for VND 55.27 Million (~₹1.87 Lakhs). He followed it up by winning back-to-back titles in Event #17: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo for VND 73.06 Million (~₹2.46 Lakhs) and Event 18: Pot-Limit Omaha for VND 70.90 Million (~₹2.38 Lakhs). He wrapped up the series by finishing seventh in Event #21: NLHE Monster Stack for VND 44.18 Million (~₹1.49 Lakhs).

Tumboli`s trailblazing Vietnam run has currently made him one of the hottest players on the Asian circuit. Given his recent form, it is no surprise that Tumboli is one of the 16 contestants in Season 2 of The Player Hunt, India’s only poker reality show!

We look forward to seeing what Spartan Poker and Zarvan Tumboli have in store for us in the coming days!
