Daily Majors: Varun Thirani, Rubin Labroo, Abhishek Sonu, Arman Khan & Anuj Yadav Dominate the Thursday Action

Mid-way through December, there’s been a slight dip in the online MTT action, the silver lining being Pocket52’s Pocket Poker Championship, which is on its third day today.

With the weekend approaching, the regs are in top gear, and several made breakout finishes last night. However, Thursday`s top scorer was a relatively lesser-known Varun Thirani. Thirani had his best day yet on Spartan Poker, as he took down the Thursday High Roller for a career-best ₹6.88 Lakhs, picking up his first title in over 20 months).

While Thirani’s blistering Thursday run almost doubled his site earnings in a single night, the India Turbo Masters Main Event champion Tanmay Benara didn’t do too bad either by picking up a runner-up payday in the Thursday HR worth ₹4.89 Lakhs (won ₹5.42 Lakhs overall).

Rubin Labroo was another top pro making the Thursday headlines. The 2020 India Poker Champion made away with ₹6.05 Lakhs from four deep finishes last night, including Adda52`s Godfather title (₹5.13 Lakhs) – his second time winning the Thursday headliner.

MTT beast Vaibhav Sharma missed out on winning the Godfather for the fourth time yesterday, nevertheless bagging away a hefty ₹4.82 Lakhs in second place after a heads-up deal.

Sunday`s Legend Poker Series Main Event third-place finisher, Armaan Kochhar, made the same third-place finish in the Godfather for ₹2.63 Lakhs. The lawyer-turned-poker pro accumulated a cool ₹4.70 Lakhs across his FT run in the Thursday High Roller and three other scores.

Arman Khan won Spartan Poker`s other Thursday flagship, Ultron, for a site-best ₹4.01 Lakhs (his second-best online score). Vishal Ojha came second for ₹2.66 Lakhs (won ₹2.91 Lakhs overall).

The #1 ranked player of the year for 42 weeks and counting, Young Gun Anuj Yadav, gave his POY title aspirations a shot in the arm by taking down PokerBaazi`s The Summit for the second time last night for ₹3.79 Lakhs (won ₹3.92 Lakhs overall).

Abhishek Sonu had a breakout Thursday run, lapping up an impressive ₹4.42 Lakhs across two top finishes. He most notably captured PokerStars India’s The Colosseum title for ₹3.29 Lakhs, defeating the winningest player in the country, Young Gun Gaurav Sood (2nd for ₹2.48 Lakhs) heads-up.

The two-time annual leaderboard topper, Gaurav Sood, went on a scoring spree yesterday, thrashing out ₹4.19 Lakhs across half-a-dozen deep runs.

Rising Star Ritwik Khanna was another breakout scorer and cranked out ₹3.19 Lakhs across four ITM finishes, most notably placing fourth in the Thursday High Roller (₹2.46 Lakhs).

Himanshu Dadhich almost won PokerBaazi’s (7-Max) SPRINT for the second time but had to make do with a runner-up finish worth a site-best ₹1.74 Lakhs. The user ‘AffableSatan’ won the 9 PM tournament for ₹2.12 Lakhs.

Adithya NG broke an over 10-week-long dry spell by conquering the Daily Value Boost on PokerBaazi for ₹1.71 Lakhs (won ₹1.78 Lakhs overall). The ever-consistent Rishab Malik pocketed ₹1.32 Lakhs in second place (won ₹1.42 Lakhs overall).
