Jain, Bang, Grover, Kwatra & Sodha Shine Through in the Sunday Marquees

It was a blockbuster Sunday that saw big-ticket tourneys like Spartan Poker’s Millionaire United, Adda52’s AOPS Main Event, and PokerBaazi’s PMVS Main Event SuperStack, all play down to the wire. Without further ado, let us tell you what went down on Sunday night.

Spartan Poker

Millionaire United is the most recent addition to Spartan Poker’s successful Millionaire franchise. The very first edition had played out on March 29, crowning Mahima Walia ‘mambojojo’ Das as the champion. Last night, the second running of this tourney drew 1,407 entries (682 unique, 297 re-entries and 428 re-buys) across two starting flights, slightly lower than the first edition`s 1,764 entries (833 unique, 368 re-entries and 563 re-buys), resulting in a shortfall of ₹1.51 Lakhs.

Site regular ‘lol this guy’ has been a consistent performer over the past few months. One of the most prominent finishes of this anonymous player came in the IOPC Millionaire Legends that took place on February 6, where they finished runner-up for ₹23.90 Lakhs. Yesterday, they won a hefty sum of ₹14.86 Lakhs for shipping the Millionaire United.

As we have come to expect at the Millionaire, the final table was replete with MTT stars. Experienced players like Dhaval ‘MandirYahinBanayenge’ Mudgal (4th for ₹5.48 Lakhs), Naren ‘IMUNAGI’ Purohit (6th for ₹3.14 Lakhs), Neeraj ‘SelfClaimedPros’ Kumar (7th for ₹2.39 Lakhs) and Sagar ‘strangeplay’ Chowdhury (8th for ₹1.70 Lakhs) were all in the running. In the end, the Millionaire title came down to a fight between ‘lol this guy’ and seasoned pro Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover. Despite being the more experienced of the two with an exhaustive resume boasting of over ₹4 Crores in recorded online winnings, Grover conceded the title to ‘lol this guy’ and instead banked ₹11.41 Lakhs for his runner-up finish. Grover, who was ranked third on the monthly leaderboard, jumped up two spots to take the lead with ₹43.42 Lakhs in monthly profits!

The Sunday SuperStack ₹45 Lakhs GTD suffered an overlay of ₹85,000 through 883 entries (393 unique, 202 re-entries, and 288 re-buys). Here again, it was an anonymous player ‘Langer,’ whobested online reg Ayan ‘interlalia_1’ Ray (runner-up for ₹4.82 Lakhs) heads-up and walked away with ₹6.45 Lakhs up top.

Rounding out the other notable winners on Spartan Poker was ‘Combat,’ who took down the Big Daddy ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.54 Lakhs, following a three-way deal with Siddharth ‘champ-ak’ Pandey (runner-up for ₹1.44 Lakhs) and ‘intothepit33‘ (3rd for ₹1.12 Lakhs).

Adda52

The six-flight long AOPS Main Event ₹2 Crores GTD finally culminated in the wee hours on Monday morning. The event had garnered 1,937 entries in total, with the site having to fill in an overlay of ₹6.30 Lakhs. Despite being one of the biggest guarantee events offered by Adda52, the AOPS Main Event has a history of being marred in controversy. The first-ever AOPS Main Event had received a lot of backlash after an unscheduled fourth flight got added to the schedule at the last minute. Despite this, the site was unable to avert an overlay of ₹5.80 Lakhs. Last night was no different. With an ongoing controversy regarding extra rake charged on Run it Twice tables, Adda52 is smack-dab in the middle of yet another blunder that has kept many regs away from the site. This definitely hurt the turnouts, resulting in a sizeable overlay.

The tournament was eventually championed by ‘autobot93,’ who banked a mouth-watering ₹50 Lakhs in prize money. The title didn`t come easy as the unknown player had to contend against the likes of Sanket ‘cowboy12’ Jain (runner-up for ₹26 Lakhs), Pranav ‘pranavbang’ Bang (3rd for ₹15 Lakhs), Vikranth ‘borntrouble’ Varma (4th for ₹6 Lakhs), Anish ‘anishpatra’ Patra (7th for ₹4 Lakhs), Alok ‘elusiveflame’ Kumar (8th for ₹3 Lakhs) and Kaushik ‘cosh’ Tibrewal (9th for ₹2 Lakhs) on the final table.

Besides the AOPS Main Event, Adda52 also hosted the AOPS Vagator ₹40 Lakhs GTD that registered 776 entries (377 unique and 399 re-entries), resulting in an overlay of ₹1.20 Lakhs. ‘mit2015’ emerged victorious and pocketed ₹9.20 Lakhs. Aditya ‘adikumar2010’ Kumar came in second for ₹5.28 Lakhs.

Neeraj ‘kumartomar’ Kumar had a gala time on the virtual felts last night. Not only did he final table the Millionaire United, finishing seventh for ₹2.39 Lakhs, but he also took down the AOPS Colva ₹20 Lakhs GTD for ₹4.60 Lakhs. The event logged in 825 entries (470 unique and 355 re-entries) and had an overlay of ₹1.43 Lakhs. Well-known online player Ayush ‘lazyman’ Garg placed second for ₹2.64 Lakhs. In fact, Kumar, playing under the moniker ‘SelfClaimedPros’, finished runner-up in Spartan Poker’s Epic ₹2 Lakhs GTD as well for ₹34,738.

PokerBaazi

The PokerBaazi Monthly Value Series (PMVS) that had kicked off on May 13, concluded yesterday with its most awaited event, the PMVS Main Event SuperStack ₹50 Lakhs GTD, finding a winner in Guneet ‘guntz’ Kwatra. The champion triumphed over a field of 563 unique entries and 437 re-entries to grab the lion’s share of the ₹50 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹8.61 Lakhs. Ankit ‘akj290’ Jajodia finished runner-up for ₹6.03 Lakhs.

Meanwhile, the PMVS BSS MegaStack ₹10 Lakhs GTD was taken down by Rishab ‘ryuk’ Malik for ₹2.35 Lakhs, while ‘Sarveshshahni’ shipped the PMVS The Monster ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹2.21 Lakhs.

PokerStars India

The 2020 INSCOOP on PokerStars India has reached the mid-way mark. On Sunday night, the flagship events on offer were the INSCOOP Sunday Highroller ₹30 Lakhs GTD and the INSCOOP Sunday Special ₹25 Lakhs GTD.

The Sunday Highroller registered 220 entries (135 unique and 85 re-entries), falling ₹2.5 Lakhs short of the break-even mark. One of the most consistent MTT winners in the country today, Chirag ‘WhyworrY_56’ Sodha claimed the title and top prize of ₹5.40 Lakhs, following a heads-up deal with ‘Poppy369’ (runner-up for ₹4.80 Lakhs). Before this win, Sodha was placed 15th in the yearly profits leaderboard; however, this score has seen him improving three places and he is currently ranked 12th.

The Sunday Special had a more eventful run as 527 entrants (305 unique and 222 re-entries) helped post a profitable ₹26.35 Lakhs prize pool. Anant ‘antypanty123’ Chaudhary came out on top to win ₹4.30 Lakhs, after defeating Aditya ‘addurrB’ Bahl (runner-up for ₹2.56 Lakhs) in the heads-up play.

AOPS Main Event ₹2 Crores GTD – Adda52

Buy-in – ₹11,000

Total Entries – 1,937

Prize Pool – ₹2,00,00,000

Places Paid – 197

Sunday brought the final day of the ₹7.8 crores GTD Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) tournament series, and the virtual tables at Adda52 were full of nail-biting action as the festival came to a close. The ₹11,000 buy-in Main Event drew in 1,937 hopefuls (Day 1A – 193, Day 1B – 237, Day 1C – 256, Day 1D – 323, Day 1E – 344, and Day 1F – 584) through six starting days, resulting in an overlay of ₹6.30 Lakhs for the site to bear.

After playing the first 29 levels, only 248 runners were able to bag Day 2 stacks. With nine players forwarding their best stacks, only 239 unique contenders went on to play Day 2.

With the top 197 places paid, several were derailed empty-handed from the event. Anonymous user ‘jacks24’ was the unfortunate money bubble ensuring the remaining a payout of ₹24,000.

Benefitting most from the situation was ‘autobot93’ and Sanket ‘cowboy12’ Jain, with the former ultimately taking the top honors. The champion picked up ₹50 Lakhs in prize money, while Jain collected ₹26 Lakhs.

This was ‘autobot93’s best performance by a considerable margin pushing his lifetime winnings on the site north of ₹57 Lakhs. His previous best score dates back to December last year, where he had won the Ballers for ₹4.19 Lakhs.

The runner-up Jain surpassed his previous best score on Adda52 as well. His previous best score had come through his runner-up finish in the Millions AF in April for 4.89 Lakhs. His blistering run on Sunday has boosted his online winnings to over ₹47 Lakhs with ₹37 Lakhs coming from Adda52 alone.

Kothari’s heads-up rival ‘pofunder’ had to settle for ₹4.42 Lakhs in prize money.

The Knockout ₹6.5 Lakhs GTD saw the mystery crusher ‘Tokio999’ walking away with the title and ₹1.52 Lakhs in prize money after a heads-up deal with ‘sheep1214’ (2nd for ₹1.03 Lakhs).

Making the winner`s list was the first-ever Millionaire United champion Mahima ‘mambojojo’ Walia Das, who shipped the Monster Stack for ₹1.22 Lakhs. She even final tabled the Ultimate PLO tourney, crossing ₹50 Lakhs in profits this year.

PokerBaazi

The Thursday special on PokerBaazi was the PMVS HR Summit ₹30 Lakhs GTD, and the crown jewel and the cool ₹6.89 Lakhs up top went to an anonymous user ‘lamfish’. Young Gun Arsh ‘Button_Hai_Bro’ Grover settled for the runner-up spot and collected ₹4.84 Lakhs for his efforts. Grover also won the INSCOOP HR yesterday.

The other featured tourney on the PMVS schedule, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD MegaStack, was taken down by PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit ‘d00mtr00p3r’ Wadhawan who took home a paycheck worth ₹2.36 Lakhs after defeating ‘acejamal’ (2nd for ₹1.65 Lakhs) heads-up.

Adda52

The AOPS continues to drive the MTT action at Adda52, and Thursday was all about Sanat Mehrotra, who won the two biggest tourneys on the site. The most prominent of the two was the AOPS Mandovi ₹35 Lakhs GTD. Mehrotra plowed his way through the 789-entry field (403 entries and 386 re-entries) to collect the lion’s share of the ₹39.45 Lakhs prize pool worth ₹9.07 Lakhs! This happens to be Mehrotra`s career-best score to date. The IITian defeated mystery user ‘OMFG’ heads-up!

Mehrotra was far from being done for the night and had another ace up his sleeve. Not content with winning the Mandovi title, Mehrotra went on to take down the AOPS PLO Highroller ₹12.5 Lakhs GTD title as well for an additional ₹3.91 Lakhs. Here his heads-up opponent was the formidable Young Gun Gaurav ‘gauravarod’ Sood (runner-up for ₹2.46 Lakhs), who, with this runner-up finish has taken over the top spot on the 2020 profit leaderboard!

PokerStars India

Moving on to the marquee event at PokerStars India, the INCOOP Highroller ₹30 Lakhs GTD, brought in 249 entries (135 unique entries and 114 re-entries) to form a guarantee-smashing prize pool of ₹33.96 Lakhs and the top 41 places earned payouts. While he couldn’t seal the deal in PokerBaazi’s HR Summit, Young Gun Arsh ‘BiggggTymeR’ Grover did one better in this tourney. He cut a heads-up deal with ‘PsykoEko’ (runner-up for ₹5.03 Lakhs) to add another ₹6.29 Lakhs to his bankroll!

The INSCOOP The Classic ₹6 Lakhs registered a player pool of 270 entries (167 unique and 103 re-entries) and taking top honors was yet another Young Gun Anmol ‘Kaanchancheena’ Mehta, who beat out ‘luckybuoy’ (2nd for ₹1.01 Lakhs) heads-up to win ₹1.35 Lakhs in prize money.

It was another fantastic day for the PokerGuru Ambassadors, with several among them scoring big. While Wadhawan was undoubtedly the biggest winner for the team, Parikshit ‘Zapdos123’ Dhall was another prominent winner. The former Millionaire champion came out on top in the INSCOOP Thursday Thrill ₹5 Lakhs GTD to win ₹96,018. Ashish ‘ragspoker’ Munot (3rd in AOPS Mandovi for ₹3.55 Lakhs), and Nadeem ‘nadeem0021’ Basha (4th in AOPS Mandovi for ₹2.68 Lakhs) were others who added to the team`s tally!
