BPT 2022: Niranjan NJ Headlines Final 18 in Series-Opener ₹15K BPT Kickoff

There couldn’t have been a better start for the first live MTT series of 2022! The Baazi Poker Tour returning after an over two-year-long gap made a rousing comeback with the ₹15K Kickoff event on March 23. You can read through the event coverage here.

The series-opener was running in tandem with the NPS Super Highroller FT and locked in 385 entries after late registrations were closed at the end of Level 5, posting a generous ₹54.29 Lakhs prize pool. Day 1 played out 20 levels of 25 mins each, and 18 players bagged a stack for Day 2, with Niranjan NJ headlining the advancing field with a stack of 799,000.

Anant Purohit, who secured a phenomenal double knockout towards the end of the day, bagged the second-largest stack of 662,000, with Abhishek Sharma securing the third most-massive stack of 612,500.

The 2020 edition of ₹10K Kick-Off had locked in 286 entries, posting a ₹26 Lakhs prize pool. PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja championed the event for ₹6.18 Lakhs. This time, the Kickoff champion is guaranteed a ₹11.25 Lakhs payday and the BPT trophy.

With the top 49 places receiving payouts, the notables who finished in the money include Vinay Rajpal (20th for ₹54,200), Paawan Bansal (21st for ₹54,200), Romit Advani (22nd for ₹45,000), PokerGuru Ambassador Vivek Singh (26th place for ₹38,000), Shuchi Chamaria (35th for ₹31,000) and Amar Reddy (42nd for ₹28,200).

Kartik Ved, Anant Purohit, Kapil Arora & Ashish Ahuja Reign Supreme in the Sunday Majors

This Sunday was undoubtedly one of the most action-packed ones of the year, with all the big guns coming out to play the marquees! With the online leg of the National Poker Series 2.0 now in the books, the action will shift to the coastal state of Goa, where the final tables of the NPS Main Event, NPS Golden Rush, and NPS Super Highroller will crown champions!

Speaking of the Sunday champions, PokerGuru Staking’s Kartik Ved was the day`s top scorer. The WSOP bracelet winner took down Spartan Poker’s The Prestige for an impressive second time, banking a ginormous ₹9.35 Lakhs. He scored in six events yesterday, locking in ₹10.63 Lakhs cumulatively. Ved will also be headlining the final table of the NPS#69 Super Highroller on Wednesday.

Chirag Sodha was the other pro who shined bright yesterday. He pocketed ₹3.94 Lakhs in Sunday winnings on the back of three deep runs, including claiming Spartan Poker’s Money Heist title. However, his most significant achievement was bagging the chip lead for the eight-handed NPS Main Event final table to be held in Goa.

Sankesh Kumar A Jain bagged the FT chip lead in the third NPS marquee, NPS Golden Rush.

Coming to the other Sunday majors, Anant Purohit was another seasoned pro who banked seven-figure winnings. Purohit claimed his second NPS gold medal in NPS#80 Sunday Marathon for ₹5.93 Lakhs. He cashed in five events, adding ₹10.31 Lakhs overall.

Akshat Sharma (Won NPS#84 SPRINT for ₹3.27 Lakhs), Anirudh Reddy (Won NPS#81 Sunday Sail for ₹2.46 Lakhs), and Shagun Jain (Won NPS#78 Sunday Smash for ₹1.27 Lakhs) captured the other NPS titles.

Shagun Jain`s Sunday win ensured him the #1 position in the NPS Podium standings, netting him a Las Vegas package worth ₹10 Lakhs. He also finished #2 in the NPS leaderboard standings for ₹7.60 Lakhs.

Kapil Arora was the last player standing in Spartan Poker’s Sunday Superstack and collected the ₹7.64 Lakhs up-top. He made away with ₹8.74 Lakhs in cumulative earnings.

Joining Sunday’s elite winner’s list was PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja, who took down PokerStars India’s Sunday Special Progressive KO for ₹2.42 Lakhs. He ran deep in eight tourneys, raking in ₹7.85 Lakhs (overall) to storm into the top five in the annual leaderboard rankings.

Young Gun Karan Radia won the Adda52 Millions for ₹5.01 Lakhs following a three-way deal. Similarly, after a three-way deal, Rubin Labroo took down Adda52’s Mega Suits for ₹5.18 Lakhs.

Saransh Garg, Young Gun Arsh Grover, Aayush Arya, Aman Parakh, Lakshay Adhikari, and Pranav Agrawal won the other Sunday marquees.

The 14-flight tourney gathered 14,881 entries, falling ₹25.59 Lakhs short of its listed guarantee.

While Rohit ‘ChubbyGhost’ Begwani (15,063 points) held onto his lead to win the series’ leaderboard for ₹10 Lakhs, Shagun ‘sogani22’ Jain (14,574 points) edged past Vinay ‘vinay09’ Rajpal (14,102 points) to collect ₹7.60 Lakhs in second place. Rajpal finished third for ₹5.25 Lakhs.

The standings will be officiated once the three NPS flagships play out in Goa but looking at the FT contenders, the top order should remain unchanged.

The record-breaking National Poker Series is back for a second run, and it’s been exactly a week since the NPS action got underway.

Getting the streaming game going from the opening day itself was Shobhit Bhargava. The PokerBaazi streamer played the ₹30 Lakhs GTD NPS#4 Sunday Marathon and the ₹10 Lakhs GTD NPS#6 Sprint last Sunday.

Daily Majors: Neville Katrak, Aditya Singh, Simon Mint & Atishay Samuel Reel in Huge Score on Tuesday

With Spartan Poker`s Final Table Series and PokerBaazi National Poker Series still a few weeks away, it’s going to be relatively slow on the online MTT front at least for the remainder of February.

Tuesday was more or less the same as Monday, and Neville Katrak emerged as the day`s breakout winner for shipping Adda52’s The Mint for 3.55 Lakhs. Anant Purohit collected 2.15 Lakhs in second place.

One of the top-ranked players on the annual TLB (points) standings, Aditya Singh, won PokerBaazi’s The Endeavour for a 3.02 Lakhs payday and defeated Yasharth Kabeer (2nd for 2.11 Lakhs) heads-up.

Simon Mint came out on top in Spartan Poker’s Mega Stack – Millionaire Bubble and scored 2.87 Lakhs after striking a heads-up deal with ‘Boudicca’ (2nd for 2.44 Lakhs).

Atishay Samuel won PokerBaazi`s (7-Max) SPRINT for 1.32 Lakhs, and Faiz Alam placed runner-up for 92,783.

Vinay B, Ankit Kasat, Akshay Gupta, Diwas Joshi, Gurpal Singh, Kamal Punjabi, and Trilok Meena shipped the other marquee titles!

The long-time circuit regular Simon ‘BustedFlush’ Mint returned to the online grind after a week`s gap and walked away with the title and a 2.87 Lakhs cash prize following a heads-up deal with ‘Boudicca’ (2nd for 2.44 Lakhs).

Like the Day 1 action, Day 2 of the Ultimate Value Series had seven events on tap, and six of them played down to a winner.

The featured UVS tournament of the day, 4.50 Lakhs GTD UVS#10, was taken down by ‘usbcable2’ for 62,529 following a three-way deal with ‘ballocks’ (2nd for 61,579) and Ankit ‘bababakchod’ Kasat (3rd for 60,523). The event logged in 558 entries and the 880 buy-in event registered a nominal 3,600 overlay shortfall. The top 47 places got paid.

Day 1B of the 15 Lakhs GTD UVS – Everest brought in 222 hopefuls, and only 22 sailed through to Day 2. ‘anands1240’ (193,364), Kunal ‘kunaly005’ Yadav (169,521), and Ravinder ‘DRUMLORD88’ Singh (155,743) headlined the advancing field.
