A New Start

November 13, 2012 in News

Hey guys hows it going? hope u guys doing good at the tables…

its been a while since i have blogged and also played poker. My last session happened in goa at the Oct PGT. But i have been attending a few live cash sessions in my city, well nothing great happening otherwise. The cash games are not going very well, dont blame anything or anyone for it its just that you dont always have to run good ya, its poker and you do have ‘run bad’ sessions and thats where you have to learn and thats where you have to forget the ‘run bad’ part of it n move on n look forward to another session.

I am going to start a fresh new roll on P.S and FTP and try n put in good volume during the week after work and also on the weekend. I have never played before on FTP so i dunno how are the games there but i am really looking forward to it. FTP will be like a new experience since i have never played there before so i’ll keep you guys updated with my online or live games/deep runs if any.

Apart from this i have been really very very busy with work since its season time but i always find a way to take out time for myself. May it be poker or playing PS3 or time to chill out with friends i aways see to it that i take out time to do what i like to do. The PGMP sessions are going good with the hh reviews helps in revising whatever we learnt in the PGMP sessions. I couldn play the last PGOL, Diwali time so have to be with family n all but its k 2 more to go have to ship at least one of em. I dropped down to the 3rd place on the LB for PGOL cuz i missed the last tourney. Look forward to the next one and hopefully will take it down.

Thats it for now you guys take care n be good n keep doing the damage at the tables.

Cheers n wish you all a very happy Diwali. God bless. 🙂

PGT October

October 30, 2012 in News

hey guys hows it going? hope you guys are doing good at the tables.

last week was the PGT October with the all new schedule set by PG team. Earlier the event were 5K FO, 12K Bounty an the 25K ME with sattys for all the three events. After the changes made the schedule has been something like this 5K Re-entry, 7K bounty and the 30K ME and also instead of the regular sattys the PG team added feeder stattys for the 6K MS for the ME.

it was really awesome to see the amount of players that had turned up for the PGT as soon as the changes were made. The number of runners were double to what i had seen in the last PGT. The 5k re-entry saw a total of 164 runners given an unbelievable value for the top three spot also the 7k paid very well to the winners as it saw 110 runners in total, the ME had 85 – 90 runners.

I didnt have a very good run in the 5k n 7k but over all it was a lot of fun. Saw many good n bad hands saw awesome beats met everyone again from the PGMP and also celebrated Adi’s birthday. all the PGMP members from the first batch had contributed and gave adi a nice and a much needed gift (hope you liked it adi).

So now its time to get back to the daily routine at work. Planning to start fresh in online poker and also in live cash game here in my town. Since i dont get much time to play durning the week i am going to sit n make a nice time table for both live n online and start grinding and working on my game again. Will keep you guys updated if i have any good deep runs. Thats it for now.

Cheers tc and keep doing the damage on the tables 🙂

Pay Attention!!!

October 16, 2012 in News

Hey guys,

Hows it going? hope all the running grinders doing good in their game.

I havent been much active poker wise. Been playing some live cash games in my city thats about it. Its going ok not that great to be true. Since i dont have much to share about whats going on poker wise i thought why not share some useful poker tips that i have learnt till date.

In my last blog about poker tips i had mentioned about how physical fitness plays an important part in the game. This time i am going to mention another important thing which most of the poker players know but hardly put in practice on the tables. PAY ATTENTION! on the tables a very important thing required in poker players. You can actually improve your game by just watching your opponents on the tables even when u are not involved in the hand. Your observations can be used as a tool to exploit your opponents the next time your are involved in a hand against them. It is a very simple task to be performed but yet ignored by many poker players. Well its not a compulsion to do so but if you are really keen on improving your game its better you follow it.

All you need to do is be mentally focused on the game when u are at a poker table. Gather info about your opponents and KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF no need to blabber them out here n there. I am sure u’ll know what all is needed to be noticed in other players so i wont get much into details here. But if u wanna know more you guys can check out this book called ‘Cairo’s book on Poker tells’ (there might be better one’s that i am unaware off) a good detailed book on poker tells. You Dont have to know every bit of it but try n keep some important info in your head like betting patterns, Strong n weak tells, the way they talk, their comfort level while they are involved in a hand etc. All this is only possible if you PAY ATTENTION!

I know there is a LOT!!! more to learn in poker than just paying attention at the tables. But its one of the most important thing to be kept in mind. A small but powerful tool, as the saying goes “Great Beginnings Start from Small Things” (i hope i got that right :-P)

Thats it for now. Hope u’ll find this tip useful. Take care, be good, and keep doing the damage on the tables. Cheers 🙂

Improvement and the PGOL

September 17, 2012 in News

hey guys hows it going?

I have not been very active poker wise for sometime now but i dont miss a single day where i dont try and improve my game some way or the other. Adi has become strict at being active on the site blog/forum wise and keeps sending stuff for the PG MP team where they can see/read and learn a lot. i have used every content to the fullist and it did help me in my game. Every individual has his/her own approach towards the game. Some players are super agro, some are super tight some are passive and some players use a bit of everything in the game. If you notice that whenever you see videos or read forums on poker sites everyone has their own thoughts towards the same hand mentioned in the thread this is where we learn the most. The different approaches, different thought process, different bet sizing and all the possible things you can think off. All you have to do is go through the threads and try and pick up the methods/approach that suite you the best and make the right use of it and not just do it because its mentioned there. This is one of the best and the most important way to improve your game KEEP FOLLOWING THE FORUMS FOR HAND ADVICE. Thats what i have been doing this week just trying to learn the most from the PG pros and imply it on the tables.

Other than that the PG OL happened last night and had a good number of runners. I played the worst game of my life yesterday and thus the results were super bad. The reason behind this was extreme laziness and i was not paying good attention to the game. Felt like banging my head on the wall. Played the most silliest game ever. Wont do it again for sure. I also had a few live cash game session in this week.

Well thats all from me at the moment. I hope i have something more in the next blog and also some good results in poker to share with u guys. Till then take care be good and keep doing the damage at the tables.

Cheers 🙂

Physical Fitness and Poker

September 21, 2012 in News

hey guys hows it going? Hope you’ll are doing well at the tables,

This time i am not going to write a blog on poker strategies or hand discussions or whats happening in the PG MP sessions. There is another aspect needed for this game which is equally important and highly misunderstood by poker players and that things is “PHYSICAL FITNESS” (which everyone will realize sooner or later as i did) Yes physical fitness is one of the most important part of poker specially tournament poker where players have long sessions of not less then 10hrs (even more) at the tables.

Poker players in general are very unhealthy people they lac physical exercise, unhealthy diet, unbalanced sleeping hours and also consumption of alcohol on or off the tables etc. It doesn’t matter if you playing live poker in your favorite casino or online poker at the comfort of your home these long tiring sessions are very physically challenging, specially for people who take this game very seriously and professionally. So in order to put in such high volume of the game at one time in a day physical and mental fitness is very important (physical fitness itself helps in mental fitness).

There is not too much effort required for this folks all you have to do is put in a few hours (3-4 hours, the more the better) of physical exercise during the week and keep continuing the same before and whenever you plan your poker schedule for the day or week and by the end of the it you will yourself feel the change in you, your game and your ability to make better decisions at the tables.. This whole physical training thing will help you in many ways. It will help increase your focus in the game, make your mind work faster than it normally does, you will be able to continue for longer sessions than you normally do and also will also help you feel less tired by the end of the day than you normally do (might also attract good looking women you never know ;)).

I know its too much of a task to drag our lazy ass out of the bed to the gym, morning jog etc. but trust me guys it helps a lot and i have experienced it my self. I know most of you guys won’t even consider this advice but you will miss out on something which is very important and necessary for your game.

GOOD HEALTH + POKER = BETTER DECISIONS AND GREAT RESULTS. Take care be good and keep doing the damage on the tables cheers 🙂

The end of PGMP but a new beginning for Poker

October 4, 2012 in News

Hey guys hows it going? Hope u’ll are running good at the tables.

its been 3 months now since the PG MP had started and i still remember how excited i was to meet everyone on the first day. I use to drive home early from my office only so that i didnt miss my online sessions. Well its been an awesome run in the PG MP till date and will always remember whatever i have learnt in the group in these 3 months. I think i was the least experienced guy in the whole group (tournament wise) but i had the eagerness to learn more and find out where i stand in terms of poker. But as we all know that no matter how much u learn about this game its always less cuz everytime you sit back and go over ur hh or talk about hands with your friends you realize that i could have played it in a different way. (irrespective of the results)

We have covered most of the topics in the program related to pre flop post flop bubble play and final table play. The program has come to an end but we have now started reviewing hh which helps us revise the whole thing all together. Its quite a test to ask and answer questions during the hh review, shows us where we stand and what we have learnt from the whole program but in the end its a lot of fun and you get to learn a lot.

It doesn matter where you from, doesn matter if u are a pro or an amateur to the game just make use of this opportunity and take up this golden chance of taking your poker skills to the next level. The next PG MP batch is gonna start soon just go ahead n apply for it guys.

Thats it for now. Take care be good and keep doing the damage at the tables.

Cheers 🙂

Poker… A never ending learning process

September 4, 2012 in News

hey guys? hows it going? hope you’ll doing well at the tables…

well i havent been much active on the tables live or online. But i am constantly working on my game. whenever i get free from work i just log on to my lappy and start reading forums watch videos get into hand discussions with my PG mate on skype or on the site. so yeah trying to do whatever i can to improve my game here n there.

it is very important for a poker player in general to constantly work on his game by any means available. It maybe by watching videos online (even cash games) or by reading forums or books or by just talking about hands with players around you, each and every chance available is an opportunity for you to improve your game.

Poker is a game of unlimited information and its all available out there. But its of no use until and unless u actually improvise it when you play. The more you’ll learn the more your game will improve and the more you’ll improve the more greedy you’ll get to learn further (trust me on this). I am extremely lucky to have been chosen for the PG MP and being trained by the most well known and respected players on the circuit and cant be more thankful than this to PokerGuru. Everyday, even if i dont play for days together i get to learn so many things from the PG pros and my PG MP mates just by discussing things and talking about hands that I can see and feel the changes in me when i am in a hand live or online.

So make the maximum use of the sources available around you and i am sure you’ll find yourself in a better spot every time you back on the tables.

Besides this the WCOOP has started and Adi had a great deep run in the $215 buy – in and it was great railing with him. He showed us some sick bluffs and some great spots to 3bet and some awesome post flop game (another way to learn about the game). So wishing all the best to Adi and the other PG pros for their WCOOP run hope someone ships one of em.

Until the next week, take care, be good and keep doing the damage on the tables.

Cheers 🙂

My 1st Live Tourney at the PGT

August 6, 2012 in News

yo wat up guys? its been a while since i last blogged. well not much happening at my end. had taken a break from poker for a bit and was waiting for my first live tourney at the PGT in Goa.

Well… to start off… my flight too goa was pretty scary since the weather was bad and the flight was facing too much turbulence. It scared the shit outta me n the others in the flight. But i landed safely and reached goa and headed to CR for the 1st event which was the 5k Freezout. the tourney was good and also got a good response. there were a total of 83 players for the 1st event.

Since it was my first live tourney i was a bit nervous. I managed to get my stack a bit up. tried a few strats which were discussed at the PGMP and they did work out good. I made a real bad move in one of my hands which hurt my stack real bad and then got knocked out soon.

27th was the 2nd event of 12k Bounty. again the event got a good response and over all the tourney was good. I survived for a bit and then got busted in 25 – 30th i guess or may be earlier dont really remember. But i had to stay back since one of my real close friend (Ankit Thurkhud) who had come for the tourney with me made a great deep run till the FT

Most of the time in these two events i was card dead so i couldn’t make a move even if i wanted too. Besides the tourney the other reason of my PGT visit was the meet with all the PGMP mates and PG pros. I met Adi, Rajat, Danny, Sammy, Vinay, Prabhat, Shaun, Amit, Laveena, Siddhart, Aditya Sushant etc. wow… great players great people to hang out with. it was awesome…

28th was the ME which had a buy-in of 25k and also a Sat for 2.5k. I ended up playing the sat for the ME. the sat had 4 full tables (36 players) out of which the top 5 were going to get a ME seat and the 6th place was gonna be awarded with 10k prize money. Great fun in the sat nice good games and super donks as well. I played it till the end a won my self a seat in the main event (Yayyyy) 🙂

Will talk about it in my next blog… Tc till then be good n safe n see you at the tables 😀

Cheers

Restart, Refreshing and Excited

August 27, 2012 in News

uuuuu huuuuu…. wat up guys? hows it going? Hope all the PG’iets doing well on the tables.

its been a while since i last blogged. Well didnt have much going on in poker on my side. Played a few live cash games and online and of course the PG OPL

I tried playing the Milestone thing on stars where i lost my roll. Was feeling extremely bad of doing so cuz i never played cash before online and when i did i lost it all. So no more cash games for me online. I’ll be reloading again and starting from scratch again and start grinding on MTT’s and SnG’s. Will try and make a schedule for the weekends when i have ample of time to grind and make my roll. At the moment i am just going through different videos listing to strategy podcasts on different topics and also going through the stuff that Adi and the PG pros have prepared for us with all their hard work. So ya just trying to improve and refresh my game.

The PG OPL was last night at 10pm like always on a Sunday. But it wasn’t like the previous PG OPL for me because i was major multi tasking at that time. I had the Tourney going on Adi was taking the PG MP session and i also had to attend a family dinner grrrr. But i did play a few hands and played em well. Yesterday there were new players on board which i didn’t see before on the PG OPL. So yeah because of the major multi tasking i couldn’t really concentrate well on the tourney and got out in 19Th. place. My fellow PG MP mate shawn (slammy jammy) shipped the tourney. Woot Woot for Shawn congrats bud.

Other than that the PG MP session which happened yesterday and before that were on post flop strategy which were helpful in many ways. Like Adi said “its very important to have all the plays and strats in our arsenal while playing poker so that we can use em properly depending on the situation and our opponent”

I am sure most of you guys have gone through the new PGT schedule for October. Its gonna be different, challenging and tough i have never played this structure before so i am really excited about it and hope to get some good deep runs and good results.

Thats all from me till then.Tc guys n be good, play well and keep working hard.

Cheers 🙂

PG OPL and Stuff

August 13, 2012 in News

yo wat up guys? hows it going? hope you’ll having a good run at the tables.

Not much has been happening recently at my end in terms of poker. Reduced playing cash a lot cuz of the late nights and the unbalanced routine. After the PGT i had taken a break again for sometime from poker had to get back to work and the reg routine at my office.

Last week after a month i decided to go and play a cash game at one of the local places here in Pune. It was a small buy in of 2k but i did enjoy playing it and had a good run for about 3 -3.5 hrs and cashed out 12k. Felt good to get back at the cash games after a long time.

The PG MP has also started after the PGT with the Post-Flop Sessions. I had missed the first sessions but i went through all the discussion on Skype and it was really very interesting. In the last session also we were discussion various post flop scenarios at different stack levels. So it was a good start towards the post flop session. The PG MP will end by Aug end or Sep start. I can assure you that this program is absolutely worth it so if you guys get a chance in the next PG MP then please don’t let go of this opportunity and see to it that you get selected for it by giving out your best poker resume.

The PG OPL had a taken place last night (Sunday) at 10 pm and saw good 47 runners. Yesterday i played a different game than i generally do. I was playing a LAG game and tried some moves using only my position as an advantage and also tried the post flop moves which we had discussed at the PG MP. I must say that it was working out pretty well. I was the tournament chip leader for quite some time in the start and was putting good pressure on my opponents. On the FT i was mostly card dead and couldn’t do much compared to my early and middle stage play. Since many players we short stacked on the FT it was getting over pretty fast. By the end of it i came 3rd and added some valuable leader board points in PG OPL.

This was my 3rd PG OPL and i have had good results in all 3 of em and hope for the same in the future. Thats all from me for now. Tc be good and ill see you at the tables.

Cheers 🙂

My 1st Live Tourney at the PGT Part 2

August 10, 2012 in News

wat up people? hope you all doing great and having a great run on the tables.

so i had won a free seat by playing a 2.5k sat for the ME. It was a great feeling to have won a free seat. My table was pretty good. i had Melwin, Laveena, Varad, Sumit, Raman etc. i didn have any read or any info about any of em since i had never played with any of em before. The starting stack was 15k with starting blinds of 50/100 which was pretty deep and good.

I managed to get my stack a lil in the upward direction with some 3-bet light and a few bluffs which worked out well enough for me. Was feeling pretty good and confident about my game.

I damaged my stack in a game against melwin the hand went something like this.
Everyone folded to me i raise from LP with J9s melwin calls from SB and the game went HU.
Flop was 5s Jc Xs i c-bet and melwin flats Turn is a 5d mel check and i raise mel thinks for a bit and check raises me on the turn. i flat his raise with my 2 pair. River is a Xs mel checks again and i raise and he thinks for a bit and calls. wins the pot with 65o (trip 5’s). This hand had damaged my stack good enuf.

Then i went card dead for a while and then managed for a double up from laveena 99 vs AK where she didnt hit anything on the bord and my 99’s held.

Then after a few eliminations from my table Amit, Sushant, Prabhat were shifted to my table. Again i went card dead for a pretty long time. But got a major boost ro my stack in one 3 way all-in hand. Prabhat raises EP i 3-bet shove my QQ’s Amit in LP re-shoves Prabhat tanks for a bit and calls the shove. Prabhat had AQs and Amit Showed AKo. None of em hits on the board and my QQ’s take down a major main pot and amit won the side with A high K kicker eliminating prabhat.

After win a few pots i use to go card dead for a long time which was really irritating but i kept my cool and was patience and waited for the right time. I bled out for sometime and again got a good double up from Amit where i shove from EP with my 66 and Amit re shoves with 55 making everyone else fold and the battle went HU. I hit my set of 66 on the turn and won the pot.

As my game was going on i was pretty much confident that i will see my first ever live FT. But things dont always go as we think. I lost two major flips and got busted on the Bubble.

Everyone fold to me and from HJ with around 25 bb i make a 3x pre CO folds and the button tanks tanks tanks and 3-bet shoves a good size stack (he was on a major tilt since his AA had got busted previously with a sick beat). SB and BB fold and i snap with my Pocket 10’s and he shows down Ah6h. The flop was just great for me where he didnt really connect well with the flop. but then disaster struck and he won the pot with a runner flush.

My bubble hand was exactly the same where Melwein shoves with AKs and i snap with pockets and Melwin manages to win with a runner flush.

I was really heart broken with the two beats i encountered. If i had won even one of em i would have been well stacked on the FT (Sigh). But its k there is always a next time and i think for my first live event i had played pretty decent reaching the top 10 in the ME.

Hoping for better results and a better run in the next PGT. Until then tc cheers and have a great one 🙂

The PokerGuru Online Poker League

July 9, 2012 in News

hey guys hows it going? Recently my online game was not going so well. Actually i wasn’t playing with the proper BRM. i was at $200 and then in a day or two came down to $25 – $30. Was really feeling bad about the way things were going online for me but i was to be blamed for my loss. My fellow PG MP mates Vinay and Olli helped me with my online BRM and now ill be working on it and try and build up my BR slow and steady.

the PG OPL happened yesterday with around 50 – 55 players. The game started at 10pm was on till 12am. The tourney was great over all Congrats to Shashank.S to win the PG OPL for $216 first place. We started with 3000 chips and i played my TAG poker and had a good deep run and reached the final table being one of the short stacks. At the FT the game had become a bit loose since the blinds were increasing and the average BB was around 20 – 22. I then started building my stack by shoving a few hands against raises. Thanks to Prabhat’s shoving ranges which helped me with this play and i was able to make a good stack by the end of it.

The HU was between Shashank.S and Arj1985 (myself). This was where i made a very bad play. I Played it in a hurry for no reason and ended up coming 2nd in the tourney for $145. Overall i think i played good but i need to work on my HU play where i messed it up real bad and gave Shashank an easy win. Well i shall work on it and try n take down the next PG OPL. Untill then tc, safe and c you at the tables.

Cheers 🙂
