June is proving to be a HOT summer month for poker players, especially with India’s Aditya Agarwal setting the ball rolling for Team India at the WSOP, with a ninth-place finish in Event #3: $2,500 Freezeout NLHE worth $23,634 (~₹18.36 Lakhs)! As we look forward to more Indians slaying it at the 2022 WSOP, online poker back home is touching unprecedented heights with Spartan Poker’s biggest-ever IOPC, MPL Poker’s inaugural IPF, PokerBaazi’s first-ever THC, and PokerStars India’s Summer Series running side-by-side!
Young Gun Anuj Yadav has officially entered his 15th straight week as the 2022 POY leaderboard topper, and from the looks of it, he is in no mood to let go of the bragging rights. This past week, Yadav lapped up ₹6.34 Lakhs, chiefly through two title victories.
The #2 ranked player of the year, Young Gun Arsh Grover, added ₹8.89 Lakhs this week, netting almost half of that from his victory march in MPL Poker’s IPF #9. On Friday, Grover hit another career milestone by crossing ₹2 Crores in annual winnings, becoming the second player after Yadav to do so.
PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja had another relatively slow week and added a modest ₹1.79 Lakhs to his scorecard, giving Mohammad Azhar the chance to close in. The inaugural NPS Main Event champion is just ₹10K away from overtaking the Chandigarh-based pro.
Last Sunday, long-time circuit pro Vishal Tulsyan finished runner-up in Adda52`s BTH Main Event for ₹12.01 Lakhs after losing the title in heads-up to the relatively little-known player Rahul Nischal. Tulsyan’s remarkable run added to a weekly cache of scores cumulatively worth ₹13.11 Lakhs, catapulting him to the top of the weekly leaderboard.
The IPF#5 Mini Main Event champion Sreekanth Narayan and the IOPC#12 – Friday Prime winner Armaan Kochhar grabbed the #2 and #3 spots on the weekly leaderboard.
