Daily Majors: PokerGuru Ambassador’s Arjanveer Singh Chadha & Ashish Munot, Ashit Sharma & Mohit Mehta Dominate the Friday MTTs
PokerGuru Ambassadors came out all guns blazing on Friday, with the team winning two titles and multiple FT finishes between them. Arjanveer Singh Chadha, Devvrat Arya, and Ashish Munot bagged the top scores for PokerGuru Staking, with Mithun Mahesh and Laksh Pal Singh bagging hefty FT scores.
Mohammad Azhar, Ram Kakkar, Ashit Sharma, Mohit Mehta and Arjun Arora were the other big winners.
Spartan Poker’s weekend special The Millionaire and The Millionaire D’Lite commenced their run last night while the Full House Finale ran another starting flight on Adda52. These three flagships will play down to a winner on Sunday, setting the stage for a power-packed weekend coming up ahead.
Here`s a full-blown recap of the Friday MTTs.
Spartan Poker
Spartan Poker flagged off the third of four The Millionaire editions lined up in February. The ₹1 Crore GTD tourney played out the first of its five starting flights yesterday, with 299 entries joining Day 1A. Only 44 runners made the cut for Day 2. Young Gun Kanchan ‘Midge Maisel’ Sharma (193,276) grabbed the end-of-day chip lead with Amit ‘Kavipri’ Suresh Gehani (187,797) and PokerGuru Ambassador Devvrat ‘deranzzdd’ Arya (176,219) carrying forward the other top stacks.
The site`s featured Friday tourney, The Elite, ran with a ₹30 Lakhs prize pool guarantee and overlaid ₹1.10 Lakhs after registering 289 entries. The event came down to an epic showdown between two PokerGuru Ambassadors, Devvrat Arya and Ashish ‘Donkey 07’ Munot. The duo quickly cut a heads-up deal that handed the title and ₹5.22 Lakhs to Arya. Munot settled for an almost comparable ₹5.21 Lakhs in prize money.
This is the second flagship title Arya has won in under a week. On Tuesday, he had championed the ₹5 Lakhs GTD Sixth Sense for ₹92,186. He cashed ₹5.46 Lakhs last night, crossing ₹4.84 Crores in lifetime earnings. Having bagged a massive stack on Day 1A of The Millionaire, a top finish there could quickly get him an entry into the “₹5-Crore Club!”
Ashish Munot is another PokerGuru Staking player who has been in sublime form recently. While he topped the final week standings in January primarily on the back of his two IOPC FT finishes, he also placed second last Sunday in The Millionaire for a whopping ₹11.12 Lakhs. Currently ranked #3 on the 2021 leaderboard with ₹71.23 Lakhs in winnings, Munot has worked up a tally of ₹5.57 Crores in lifetime earnings.
The more inclusive weekend feature running as part of Spartan Poker’s “FABuary” promotion, the ₹10 Lakhs GTD The Millionaire D’Lite, played out two starting flights on Friday. Day 1A of the ₹165 entry buy-in event took flight at 3 PM to garner 871 entries. By the end of the play, 87 progressed to Day 2, with ‘Wrong turn’ (188,559), ‘Terabaapaaya05’ (184,955), and ‘hellmute’ (162,333) bagging the most massive stacks.
Day 1B commenced at 9 PM, registering 644 entries, and 81 survived. Ravi ‘Rvjn91’ Jain (243,764), Anish ‘downswing4ever’ Arora (209,688), and ‘Battries’ (167,652) carried forward the top three stacks of the flight. There are five more starting flights to go before the Day 2 qualifiers come together for the final day`s play at 10 PM on Sunday.
The ₹10 Lakhs GTD Futuristic wrangled in 1,265 entries, overlaying ₹1.14 Lakhs. Ashit ‘D. Carwin1’ Sharma was the last player standing and won ₹1.88 Lakhs, with Nishant ‘CaptainLevi’ Sharma placing runner-up for ₹1.14 Lakhs.
PokerStars India
PokerStars India`s ₹10 Lakhs GTD Uppercut MAGIC Edition clocked in 207 entries to register an overlay of ₹1.72 Lakhs. It took under seven hours of play for Ram ‘TheLagLawyer’ Kakar to take down the title for ₹2 Lakhs (₹95,984 in prize money, ₹1.03 Lakhs in bounties). Amar B ‘PsykoEko’ Iyer placed runner-up for ₹1.17 Lakhs (₹95,984 in prize money, ₹20,797 in bounties).
The 9.30 PM ₹2 Lakhs GTD The Classic PKO roped in a guarantee-smashing 134 runners. ‘arjit2892’ grabbed the title and the ₹52,744 (₹21,583 in prize money, ₹31,160 in bounties) first-place cash prize.‘cinimod10’ placed runner-up for ₹23,083 (₹21,583 in prize money, ₹1,500 in bounties).
PokerBaazi
PokerBaazi’s Friday night attraction, the ₹12 Lakhs GTD The Weekly HighRoller, pulled in 144 runners, collecting an impressive ₹14.40 Lakh prize pool. Mohammad ‘chandlerbing’ Azhar navigated his way across the fierce competition to win a well-deserved ₹3.71 Lakhs. He overcame a decorated FT lineup that included his heads-up opponent ‘madhumangal’ (runner-up for ₹2.6 Lakhs). PokerGuru Ambassador`s Mithun ‘thepokeraja’ Mahesh (3rd for ₹1.67 Lakhs) and Laksh ‘boomtlt23’ Pal Singh (4th for ₹1.24 Lakhs) also FT-ed the event.
The ₹6 Lakhs GTD Grinders #30 Highroller ran from 10 PM to 4.21 PM. Mohit ‘thejoker’ Mehta topped the 229-player field to win ₹1.42 Lakhs. ‘macchi,’ who had won the ₹10 Lakhs GTD APT #54 Turbo on January 26, placed runner-up for ₹99,060.
Sankalp ‘wobbegong’ Marwah pulled out a breakout run in the Grinder Series events on Friday. He championed the ₹1.5 Lakhs GTD Grinders #28 Holdem Boost for ₹48,540 while placing fourth in the ₹1 Lakh GTD Grinders #29 PLO Boost for ₹10,141.
Adda52
Day 1E of Adda52`s ₹1 Crore GTD Full House registered 193 entries. Devrat ‘Vickypune’ Singh (368,849) bagged the most massive stack among the 24 survivors from the flight. ‘foldkardunga’ (281,187) and PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik ‘Pegasus1505’ Ved (274,511) carried forward the other top stacks of the day. With five of eight starting flights done and dusted, the event has logged in 950 entries so far. It needs 2,000 entries to break even on its eight-figure guarantee – so a fat overlay looks imminent.
The day`s featured event, the ₹22.5 Lakhs GTD The Ballers, logged in 313 contenders, overlaying ₹1.06 Lakhs. PokerGuru Ambassador Arjanveer ‘arjan30’ Singh Chadha shipped the tourney, winning ₹5.63 Lakhs for the outright victory. Abhiroop ‘Daniel90’ Gupta secured the runner-up payout of ₹3.41 Lakhs.
Chadha, who has won this event twice before – on December 4 and January 8, was also in contention to win PokerStars India’s Uppercut MAGIC Edition last night. He eventually finished ninth for ₹18,340, earning a collective ₹5.80 Lakhs last night. His lifetime winnings now stand at ₹6.24 Crores, and he is currently among the #10 winners of 2021 with annual earnings of ₹66.09 Lakhs.
The ₹5.5 Lakhs GTD Running Hot generated a prize pool worth ₹5.58 Lakhs from 279 entries. Arjun ‘beatthefish66’ Arora outlasted them all to win ₹1.43 Lakhs, besting the former IOPC Millionaire Main Event champion Anurag ‘NormanBates’ Srivastava (runner-up for ₹85,095) in heads-up play.
