August closed out in style with the second edition of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Online India handing out the last of its titles. There are no brownie points for guessing that the week’s biggest winner was the ₹3 Crore GTD WPT India Main Event champion Kushal Sogani! The relatively lesser-known player trounced over 227 participants in the Main Event finale to lock in a career-defining ₹47.45 Lakhs payday. Not just that, he also bagged a Hublot watch and a WPT Passport worth $5,000. Sogani managed an FT finish in the WPT 3000 as well, boosting his Sunday winnings to ₹48.82 Lakhs! For his inspiring run, Kushal Sogani is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”
Young Gun Anuj Yadav won a career-second The Millionaire title for ₹17.24 Lakhs, becoming the eighth player in our database to win the Spartan Poker flagship twice.
Mohammad Azhar, Ram Kakkar, Puneet Mishra, Ankita Ajay Malik, and Vaibhav Sharma were the other notables who added seven figures this week.
With the WPTOI now in the books, poker players get about two weeks of downtime before Spartan Poker returns with the third edition of the Final Table Series (FTS) from September 10 to 19.
Running alongside the FTS 3.0 will be PokerBaazi’s Indian Micro Poker Series (IMPS) Gold Edition from September 12 to 26.
Poker players can also look forward to the return of India’s biggest online event, the ₹5 Crore GTD EndBoss. Timed around PokerBaazi’s seventh anniversary, the mega tournament will run from October 20 to 24, with the eventual champion slated to take home a life-altering ₹1 Crore top prize!
Moving over to the live felts, the 2021 Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) Europe is on its last legs. The series has already crowned eight champions, with Antanas Guoga, a.k.a. Tony G claiming two SHRB titles in less than a week! The $250,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event is already underway and is expected to play down to a winner soon.
The GGPoker/Natural8-leg of the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online gave out five more bracelets this week, with Alexandros Theologis emerging as the biggest winner at the series (so far) after winning Event #21: $5 Million GTD Super High Roller Championship for $1.21 Million.

He also placed fourth in WPT 3000 to collectively earn ₹48.82 Lakhs. Sogani’s spectacular Sunday run makes him the week’s biggest scorer and our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

Young Gun Anuj Yadav has been unstoppable since his comeback at the IOPC July Edition. Mohammad Azhar, Ram Kakkar, Puneet Mishra, Anuj Yadav & Ankita Ajay Malik Shine Through in the Sunday Marquees
There could not have been a more thrilling end to August than what transpired last night! With the Adda52-hosted World Poker Tour (WPT) Online India on its penultimate day, two of the biggest tournaments of the series, the ₹3 Crores GTD WPT Main Event and the ₹1 Crore GTD WPT Unreal, both played down to winners.
Grabbing the day’s single biggest paycheque was Kushal Sogani, who took down the WPT Main Event for a career-defining ₹47.45 Lakhs. The former Full House Finale also final-tabled the WPT 3000, cumulatively banking ₹48.82 Lakhs.
The first-ever NPS Champion Mohammad Azhar came close to capturing yet another Main Event title (his second in two months) but ultimately settled for a runner-up finish worth ₹34.09 Lakhs. Two more ITM finishes boosted his Sunday winnings to ₹34.34 Lakhs.
Ram Kakkar (3rd for ₹24.51 Lakhs) and Puneet Mishra (4th for ₹17.62 Lakhs) were the other WPT Main Event final table finishers to bank seven-figure payouts.
Running alongside the WPT Main Event was the WPT Unreal. The marathon event finally culminated last night after declaring a winner in Ankita Malik. Claiming her career-fourth WPT title, Malik outlasted Simran Sharma (2nd for ₹10 Lakhs) and her own husband, Gagandeep Singh (3rd for ₹8 Lakhs) on the FT to claim a career-best ₹15 Lakhs payday. A rising star in the domestic poker circuit, Ankita Malik’s incredible run is an inspiration for many up-and-coming players, especially women who struggle to find their footing in the industry.
Young Gun Anuj Yadav won Spartan Poker’s The Millionaire title, becoming the eighth player in our database to win weekend flagship twice. He earned a top prize of ₹17.24 Lakhs (cumulatively) after defeating Sachin Sharma (2nd for ₹9.27 Lakhs) heads-up. The 25-year-old Yadav joins Manoj Pentakota, Phanindra Akkina, Sriharsha Doddapaneni, Manish Lakhotia, Gaurav Sood, and Arsh Grover in the elite two-time Millionaire champion’s club.
If Ankita Malik’s WPT Unreal win was inspiring, then Young Gun Kanchan Sharma‘s consistent form is equally motivating. The former Destiny winner was in stellar form yesterday as she championed PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack for ₹4.88 Lakhs. She wrapped up her Sunday run with a career-best ₹10.88 Lakhs in total winnings on the back of another three deep runs.

Online Rankings: Manish Lakhotia Trailblazing Week Pushes Him to the #1 Position on the Weekly & Annual Leaderboard Standings
In this feature, we bring you to the top three weekly, monthly, and yearly performers every Saturday. These rankings are based on cumulative winnings (cashes). However, the rankings only include players registered to our online ranking system, so if you haven’t signed up on PokerGuru yet, hurry up and register!

The three-way tussle between Manish Lakhotia, PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh, and Young Gun Gaurav Sood at the top of the annual leaderboard is like a weekly viewing of ‘Jeopardy!’ – we wait with bated breath to see which of the trio will walk away with the grand prize, or in this case, capture the #1 rank, each week.
Well, with a weekly performance that saw Manish Lakhotia raking in an impressive ₹36.86 Lakhs, it comes as no surprise that not only has the Siliguri-based pro topped the weekly rankings but has also snatched the #1 rank from Laksh Pal Singh on the 2021 leaderboard standings.
Speaking of Laksh Pal Singh, the PokerGuru Staking team member might have lost the #1 position on the annual rankings to Manish Lakhotia this week after registering a relatively modest ₹6.32 Lakhs in weekly cashes. However, he continues to headline the yearly profits charts and is still the only pro sitting with over ₹1 Crore (₹1.28 Crores) in annual profits.
Young Gun Gaurav Sood fared almost similar to Laksh Pal Singh. With ₹5.71 Lakhs in weekly winnings, he has held on to the #3 position on the annual leaderboard. And also retains the #2 position on the yearly profits charts with ₹96.76 Lakhs in net profits.
Even though Manish Lakhotia has pulled up almost ₹25 Lakhs ahead of the others on the annual charts, with the inaugural National Poker Series currently underway, if Laksh Pal Singh or Gaurav Sood manage to win medals, we could easily see a change in the top order next week.
Coming back to the weekly rankings, as we mentioned earlier, Manish Lakhotia`s fantastic performance all through the week landed him at the #1 position on both the weekly and annual charts. PokerGuru Ambassador Ankit Wadhawan raked in over ₹30 Lakhs in just two days (Thursday and Friday) to sit behind Lakhotia on the weekly charts. He took down the NPS#30 DeepStack Championship on Thursday and almost won a second NPS Gold Medal in the NPS#36 NPS Super Highroller on Friday, netting ₹32.60 Lakhs in total earnings through the week.
Sunday`s DOPT Main Event champion Gagandeep Singh rounds out the top three on the weekly leaderboard standings.
NOTE: Because of a technical glitch in our tracking system, we will not be updating the monthly rankings this week.

Yearly Cashes – ₹2,42,67,732
Yearly Profit – ₹84,50,859

The competition over the #1 position on the annual leaderboard has been neck-to-neck for several months now, but Manish Lakhotia changed that trend somewhat this week. He had first featured in our ‘Online Rankings’ report in the second week of March, where he ranked third – PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh sat at #1 – and has made the weekly report every time since then. Lakhotia was the top-ranked player of the year twice in April, and more recently, the final week of May – a dominion he continued for an entire fortnight before being trumped (yet again) by Laksh Pal Singh.
Well, the Siliguri-based player reclaimed the bragging rights this week, and with aplomb. The two-time Millionaire champion topped the weekly charts with a jaw-dropping ₹36.86 Lakhs in total winnings that featured top finishes in the biggest events, namely, the DOPT Main Event and the NPS Super Highroller to pull ₹28.46 Lakhs ahead of Laksh Pal Singh.
