Online Rankings: Young Gun Anuj Yadav Tops the Weekly Charts, Completes 18 Consecutive Weeks as the #1 Ranked Player of the Year
In this feature, we bring you to the top three weekly, monthly, and yearly performers every Sunday. These rankings are based on cumulative winnings (cashes). However, the rankings only include players registered to our online ranking system, so hurry up and register if you haven’t signed up on PokerGuru yet!
It’s been raining big scores on the domestic felts, and bringing the continuum for online players is PokerBaazi’s biggest-ever Asian Poker Tour (APT) India Online Series. After six months of competitive action, three Young Guns have pulled ahead to emerge as the frontrunners in the POY race.
No surprises here, for Young Gun Anuj Yadav completes an incredible 18 consecutive weeks as the #1 ranked player of the year. Yadav went on a two-day heater towards the end of the week, winning the Thursday High Roller and the APT #4 Friday Major back-to-back for ₹16.85 Lakhs. He now sits with an enviable ₹2.67 Crores in annual earnings and an equally handsome ₹1.42 Crores in net profits.
Arsh Grover, one of the recent arrivals at the 2022 WSOP, might have cut down his online volume while in Vegas, but the Young Gun is still holding on tightly to the #2 position in the annual charts with ₹2.32 Crores in aggregate winnings. Grover scored two breakout finishes this week (Big Game and Thursday High Roller), netting ₹12.71 Lakhs overall.
Once again, Sahil Chutani rounds out the top three names in the annual leaderboard standings. Like Grover, Chutani got to work early by taking down Spartan Poker`s Sunday Superstack. He sits with ₹2.18 Crores in yearly earnings and retains the tag of the most profitable player of 2022 with ₹1.51 Crores in net profits.
The POY race is still open, with several players vying to get on top. PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish Ahuja has kept a steady pace at #4 in the annual charts, but the IOPC June 2022 – The Crown champion Saurabh Rohila is closing in fast. The IIT Delhi alumnus stormed to #5 in the charts following the landmark victory last month and is less than ₹1 Lakh behind Ahuja.
We’re only three days into July; hence we will skip the monthly leaderboard rankings.
The #1 ranked player of the year, Anuj Yadav, also topped the weekly charts. Following Yadav in the weekly rankings is another well-known reg Shashank Jain, who added ₹16.43 Lakhs to his poker bankroll this week. Saurabh Rohila has kept his heater going even after IOPC and comes in at #3 in total winnings this week.

On Wednesday, he did one better in Adda52’s Maverick, walking away with his third title of the year and a ₹3.90 Lakhs payday. Grover, who is part of the Indian contingent at the 2022 WSOP in Las Vegas, took out time for the Sunday grind and wouldn`t be too disappointed by the results as he FT-ed one of the biggest tournaments running, Adda52’s Big Game (3rd for ₹8.71 Lakhs). This Week in Poker: June 22 – 28
In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly roundup of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players and the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit. Here are this week’s top stories!
We are on the final day of June, and as we look back, this has undeniably been a thrilling month for live and online poker! From Team India’s exciting run at APT Vietnam and the ongoing 2022 WSOP to the mind-boggling action of the IOPC June 2022 (Spartan Poker), 1100 THC Series (PokerBaazi), India Poker Festival (MPL Poker), and Summer Series (PokerStars India), we saw it all!
Bringing a fitting end to such a fabulous month was an unexpected (but exciting) announcement by PokerBaazi. India’s most trusted online poker site roped in Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor as its latest brand ambassador. The critically acclaimed actor is the poker site’s most prominent celebrity endorsement to date.
As for this week’s chartbusters, Yudhishter Jaswal is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week” for his phenomenal run in the 2022 WSOP Online Event #5: $600 Online Deepstack Championship. The poker reg from London finished fifth for $36,415 (~₹28.59 Lakhs), making him the third Indian to final table a bracelet event at this year’s WSOP and the first to do so in an online bracelet event.
Nathan Rao, Young Gun’s Neel Joshi, Abhinav Iyer & Siddharth Karia, PokerGuru Ambassador Kartik Ved, Young Gun, Abhishek Goindi, Paawan Bansal, Muskan Sethi, and Jaydeep Dawer kept Team India’s scoreboard ticking at the 2022 WSOP.
Coming to the online action, Prem Madderla bagged the week’s single biggest score worth ₹19.39 Lakhs in Adda52’s Big Game on Sunday.
Young Gun Karan Radia is another poker powerhouse who has been raising quite the storm with his online exploits. Even though he’s opted out of our tracking, the London-based poker pro accumulated over ₹18 Lakhs this past week and won three flagship titles – Spartan Poker’s Thursday High Roller and Trending Thursday, and Adda52’s The Ballers.
Guneet Kwatra, Abhinav Iyer, Siddhanth Kapoor, and Saurabh Rohila were the week’s other top scorers.
If June was a blockbuster month for online poker, players would not be disappointed in July, for PokerBaazi is returning with the fourth edition of the APT India Online Series from July 1 to 10. With over ₹10 Crores in guaranteed prizes, it will be the biggest-ever APT India Online Series hosted by the site.
As a special treat for cash game players, Spartan Poker has announced the Cash Carnival, which comes packaged with three promotions and makes an extended run from July 3 to August 27. There is a whopping ₹1.19 Crores in prizes and other bumper rewards like Honda City, Hyundai Venue cars & a Kawasaki Ninja 400 bike to be won.
The fifth edition of MPL Poker’s popular Steal Deal Series is well underway. The budget series, which has ₹35 Lakhs in guaranteed prize money, is the biggest one hosted by the site – and there are another six days of action left before it ends on July 5.
Asia’s largest online poker room, Natural8, will be hosting the $1 Million GTD Mystery Bounty MILLION$ on July 4, the last day of the inaugural #microMillion$ series. The $10.50 buy-in event promises insane value, with mystery bounties as high as $50,000.
In other news, the Justice K Chandru-headed four-member committee has submitted its report to the Tamil Nadu government, calling for a prohibition on all forms of online gaming through a new ordinance.
Coming to the 2022 WSOP, Yuliyan Kolev, (Won Event #37: $1,500 Millionaire Maker NLHE for $1,125,14), Phil Hui (Won Event #45: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed for $311,782), Joao Simao (Won Event #52: $5,00 Mixed NLHE/ PLO for $686,242), Alex Foxen (won Event #50: $250,000 Super High Roller NLHE for $4,563,700), Jonathan Pastore (Won Event #46: $,600 6-Handed for $771,765), Menikos Panagiotou (Won Event #48: $1,500 Eight Game Mix 6-Handed for $180,783), Eric Smidinger (Won Event #47: $1,000 Seniors Championship for $694,909), James Todd (Won Event #54: $500 Salute to Warriors for $161,256), and William “swaggyb” Corvino (Won Online Event #5: $600 Online Deepstack Championship for $149,319) claimed bracelets this week.

Guneet Kwatra, Abhinav Iyer, Aman Parakh, Shashank Jain & Sahil Chutani Shine in the Sunday Flagships
An eventful Sunday just passed us by, and while relatively pale compared to the high-octane action from earlier this month, the top sites dished out massive guarantees across their respective weekend flagships.
The fourth edition of Pocket52`s Pocket Poker Championship also powered down to a close last night. At the same time, the fifth installment of MPL Poker`s budget series, the Steal Deal Series, got underway.
Prem Madderla made the Sunday headlines after grabbing the day’s single-biggest score worth ₹19.39 Lakhs in the ₹50 Lakhs GTD Adda52 Big Game! The user “Badbeat4” (2nd for ₹11.55 Lakhs) & the #2 ranked player of the year, Young Gun Arsh Grover (3rd for ₹8,71 Lakhs), locked in podium finishes.
Former The Millionaire winner Guneet Kwatra shipped the other ₹50 Lakhs GTD Sunday headliner, Spartan Poker’s Sunday High Roller, taking home the ₹14.04 Lakhs top prize, ending his 11-month-long title drought in style. Young Gun Abhinav Iyer, who is well in the thick of the action at the 2022 WSOP, having already cashed four events at the series, chopped the Sunday High Roller title with Kwatra, collecting ₹13.64 Lakhs in second place.
Rising Star Aman Parakh was among the standout performers on Sunday. He took down Pocket52’s PPC showstopper, The Bracelet Main Event, for ₹4.26 Lakhs and finished runner-up in PokerBaazi’s BSS SPRINT for ₹1.30 Lakhs. He cashed in another five events, rounding up an impressive ₹9.01 Lakhs in Sunday winnings.
Shashank Jain might not have won any titles yesterday. Still, he ran deep in two Sunday headliners, i.e., Spartan Poker’s Sunday Superstack (2nd for ₹7.18 Lakhs) and Sunday High Roller (13th for ₹1.27 Lakhs), banking ₹8.44 Lakhs cumulatively.
The most profitable player of the year, Young Gun Sahil Chutani, fired up another smashing run last night. He took down Spartan Poker’s Sunday Superstack for the second time for ₹7.51 Lakhs and made another deep run in Adda52’s Sunday Showdown, pocketing ₹7.63 Lakhs overall.
Ayush Garg took down Spartan Poker’s brand-new ₹20 Lakhs GTD Armageddon for ₹4.13 Lakhs. But that wasn’t his most significant achievement of the day. The two-time Millionaire winner cashed in two more events for ₹5.21 Lakhs in total winnings, storming into the elite “₹6 Crore Club.”
Somesh Patel was another name that bears mentioning for his brilliant Sunday run that saw him take down both the Sunday flagships on PokerStars India. Patel shipped Sunday Special for a career-best ₹2.74 Lakhs, and less than an hour later, he repeated the feat in the Sunday Highroller, netting ₹2.58 Lakhs. In all, the PokerStars India reg accumulated a career-best ₹5.36 Lakhs last night.
