Daily Majors: Rubin Labroo Crushes the Tuesday Flagships, Wins Two Headline Tournaments & ₹5.58 Lakhs in Prize Money!
In line with the usual trend, the Tuesday MTTs clocked in better turnouts than Monday. But there`s a lot more to come as the week ahead promises to be laced with exciting online and live action with the country`s biggest online tournament, ENDBOSS, scheduled to start tonight. The third edition of the ₹5 Crores GTD ENDBOSS returns as part of PokerBaazi`s ongoing #BaaziBillion promotion at 8 PM tonight. There are five scheduled starting flights on the tap, followed by Day 2 on Sunday, where one lucky player will walk away with at least ₹1 Crore in prize money!
The vast majority of the MTT crowd has already arrived in Jhapa, Nepal, for the IPC Megastacks! The four-event series will host its first scheduled event, the ₹25K Kick-Off at Casino Vegas by Big Daddy in Hotel Mechhi from 5 PM onwards today. The PokerGuru coverage team will be posting daily reports of all the action from the venue!
Coming back to the Tuesday headlines, the 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin Labroo single-handedly crushed the primetime tournaments! We had reached out to Rubin Labroo a few days ago to confirm if he would be defending his IPC Main Event title at the soon-to-start IPC Megastacks. While we were disappointed to hear he won’t be making the trip to Nepal, we know now that this won`t keep him away from the spotlight.
As a precursor to what we hope will be a busy week for the MTT reg, the former PPL Main Event champion took down two headline tournaments yesterday. One of them was Spartan Poker`s ₹12.50 Lakhs GTD Mega Stack – which dropped the Millionaire Bubble branding this week. This Week in Poker: September 8 – 14
In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly roundup of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players and the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit. Here are this week’s top stories!
After two weeks of downtime, the online scene has exploded with activity, with three high voltage MTT stops starting days apart from each other. Spartan Poker FTS 3.0, PokerBaazi’s IMPS Gold Edition, and PokerStars India’s INCOOP all hit the ground running this week.
With an abundance of massive guaranteed tournaments, the week registered a slew of big winners. However, none more consistent than Haider Madraswala, who stormed his way to the top of the weekly charts. The old-timer has been on the rampage with two title wins and two runner-up finishes, adding ₹25.72 Lakhs this past week. Being the only player to net over ₹25 Lakhs in online winnings, Madraswala, deservedly, is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”
M Balakrishnan, Mohammad Azhar, Manash Kalita, Anmol Agarwal, Sahil Chutani, and PokerGuru Ambassador Mithun Mahesh were the other big scorers of the week.
With so much MTT action running all across, sites are going all out to get crossover traffic to hit the cash tables. PokerBaazi is closing in on its seventh anniversary and is pulling out all the stops to make the occasion momentous for the poker community. Just weeks after dropping the news of TheEndBoss 2.0, the site launched two cash game promotions – Cash Smash 7.0 and LIC Leaderboard – both promising ₹3.50 Crores in guaranteed prizes. The promotions are already live on the site and continue until October 31.
Asia’s largest online poker room, Natural8, also has a hoard of lucrative offers and promotions for September, including the Super MILLION$ Week with $15 Million in guaranteed prizes.
Moving over to the international sphere, the GGPoker/Natural8-leg of the 2021 WSOP Online Series wrapped up on September 12. A total of six gold bracelets were awarded during the final week of play, with France’s Arnaud Enselme claiming the last bracelet of the series in Event #33: $500 The Closer for $360,223. However, Russia’s Aleksei Vandyshev hogged the spotlight in the closing week of the series as he championed the $5,000 Main Event Online Championship for a jaw-dropping $2.54 Million.
Coming to live-action, after the successful culmination of Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) Europe, PokerGO is now streaming high-stakes MTT action from the Poker Masters series taking place at the PokerGO Studios in Las Vegas. The opening week witnessed a lot of high-octane action, with six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu capturing his second live title of the year in Event #5: $50K NLHE for $178,000. The win has made the GGPoker Ambassador the frontrunner in the race for the Purple Jacket.
The week also witnessed a host of new signups. Yuri Dzievielevski, aka “theNERDguy” was onboarded by partypoker as its new sponsored Team Pro, while PokerStars announced Rafael Moraes as its latest ambassador. The 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker partnered with European e-wallet digital payments provider MuchBetter, and Darren Elias joined BetMGM’s partypoker US network as a brand ambassador.
Online Railbird Report
Online poker has been the prevailing theme for the better part of two years now – ever since the COVID-19 virus reared its ugly head in the world. And even after all this time, the numbers continue to hold on strong.
On the domestic front, the MTT regs got almost two weeks off between the WPT Online India Series and FTS 3.0. The action has especially escalated in the last few days as PokerBaazi`s IMPS Gold Edition and PokerStars India`s INCOOP have significantly increased the count of daily marquees.
The “PokerGuru Star of the Week” title goes to Haider Madraswala, hands down the most consistent player of the week. Madraswala all but filed his nomination for the title last Wednesday itself with a runner finish in Spartan Poker`s Destiny. The online reg couldn`t have asked for a better start at FTS 3.0. He championed FTS #2 Friday Special for a hefty ₹9.75 Lakhs, bagging the first Gold Medallion of the series. And just two days later, he won another ₹7.38 Lakhs for his runner-up finish in the FTS #8 Sunday Special. He also took down the latest The Big Show on PokerBaazi. With ₹25.72 Lakhs earned over the week, he scored more than double of everyone else on the list.

> 1st in the FTS #2 Friday Special ₹50 Lakhs GTD for ₹9.75 Lakhs
> 2nd in the FTS #8 Sunday Special ₹60 Lakhs GTD for ₹7.38 Lakhs
> 1st in The Big Show ₹7.50 Lakhs GTD for ₹1.66 Lakhs

His top finishes include:
> 1st in the Destiny 20.0 Finale SNG ₹10 Lakhs GTD for ₹5 Lakhs
