February goals..

February 8, 2013 in News

ssup guys. hope u all are crushing the tables, actually a lot of Indian guys are.. , final tabling the milli, swu, and taking down a lot of other bigs and the hots.

our mentors have also started serious grinding, adi final tabling and taking down a few, grinding non stop from 3pm-5am almost everyday, also, fellow pgmp mates are crushing the tables,, final tabling and taking down events daily.

so after a break finally decided to seriously grind the 180s and 45s to improve my roll to be able to grind the mtts, though grinding these 180s and 45s can become boring and monotonous, but gotta build some roll.

yesterday reviewed a 180 with Prateek and Sahil, found out a few leaks, and played a session today while trying to fix those.
had a decent session, won a couple of 45s and a 180. will be reviewing them and hopefully grinding a lot more.

the target now is to
*play at least 20*50+ game sessions in Feb.
*fix all the leaks.
*review 4 deep runs each week.2 each for the 180s and 45s.

Update on 2.5, 180’s..

December 16, 2012 in News

ssup guys.hope u all are running good.i mentioned in my last blog regarding putting up some volumes in the 180s which i wasn’t able to do due to college stuff and all, though i moved on to 4 tables and was comfortable with them, think i can add 1-2 more, or maybe i’ll spend some more time on 4 tables.
i did have a couple of small sessions last week,, my last 50 games of 2.5 180’s went pretty well. i was ITM 8 times,, of which i min cashed thrice was 8th twice, 2nd once and twice i won it.
i know tht its a lol samplesize, and i really need to put in some volume. nowadays i m pretty comfortable playing with the short stack. its like i m just waiting for the blinds to shoot up, 2.5’s are the perfect way to build your bankroll and improve ur shortstackgame.you just need to..
1) download pokerstove.com
2) Work really hard on the mathematics of push/fold poker when short-stacked
3) You have to be playing for the 1st/2nd place, tightening up when running bad/deep is disastrous.
4) Don’t make big folds preflop when you have less than 30 BB….they are almost always wrong.
5) Don’t be results oriented. Running into AA doesn’t make a shove bad.
6) Try to get all-in by the river every time you have a monster hands. Slowplaying monster hands/trying to get too fancy is a massive leak most players have.
this is the advice that i got from prabhat sir (suicidespree) and trust me, this is all that one needs ..
gl, to prateek, sahil and all others who would be grinding it hard today. go ship some $$tourneys$$.

Update..

December 3, 2012 in News

hey guys, hope u all are running good.as mentioned in my last blog i have decided to play 180’s, to test my knowledge and to try and increase my bankroll a bit. i m mixing them with 6 max sngs, 2-3 tables. would try and go for 4 by next week.
played 2 sessions over the weekend. during the first session i played 12 180s(-$25), big 5.5(+5), couple of other turbos (–) and around 20 sngs (+$). cashed in the 5.5 and was up at the sngs.in the second session, played around 30sngs ,13 2.5 180’s and hot 11(-$11). again was up in the sngs, not much though, but again didn’t cash in the first 11 2.5s. was 23bi down in these games, though this is normal for these games, but the good thing was that i was feeling good about my game, was going deep, all the short stack knowledge that we got was coming very handy in these spots, it was just a matter of time that those flips start going my way and then in the 24th game i managed to the reach the final table, though was crippled during the ft bubble, managed a 8th place. it was supposed to be my last game for the session, but then loaded a couple more, and yup, managed to ship 1. went for the kill on the ft,1st place was my only motto, others tightening up helped me alot.
so all in all it was a good session for me, confidence booster. the plan for this week is to go through my calling range (using pokerstove and pt4 hand range models etc) and hope to get few more good sessions .till then hope u guys have great time at the tables. cheers..

New Year New goals.

January 8, 2013 in News

happy new year guys,,, these freezing winters have made me so lazy, i didn’t even keep up with the 180 grind which i talked about in my earlier blogs, sleeping 12 hours+ almost everyday..:P

saw the PokerStars fastest to 100k vpps (supernova) challenge completed in less then 40 hours,, sick how mouldyonions (ryan bell) and awice (alex wice) competed for it and awice just winning it as mouldy had software problems at the end, props to both, and now you can find them running for the fastest super nova elite (1M vpps), awice is aiming for 8M vpps this year thts equivalent to $1M+ in rakeback .it would be sick if he could do tht,,,

seeing their challenges, kinda inspired me, no i m not going for supernova elite,, just that i should get off my lazy attitude and put in some hours, grinding, the fact that being mentored by the best mtt player in India you got to put in a lot of time to justify, them putting in the efforts to improve your game,,

so i have made some short term goals,, grinding 180s to be the prime most, putting 50 games+ every session that i sit for till 15th, and play at least a session a day 6-8 tabling, would make my next goal depending on my success/failure of this session, hitting the gym is another of my goal ,,

though i m confident of achieving my 1st goal for January, have already played 2 sessions for 100 games+, and hoping to continue playing more, but at 5deg< hitting the gym feels like an epic fail, lets see how it goes,,

i would update my blog with stats at the end of this week, till then keep crushing the tables..gl

The First 1…

November 14, 2012 in News

“Why electronics engineering when u don’t have any interest in it?”…that’s how all my campus interviews begin…

the truth to the above question is that getting into a decent college was my top priority, I didn’t think abt what I’ll do once I get in there, the one big mistake most of us do while setting up our targets is, most of the times we aren’t even sure abt-why we are setting them…

Same goes for poker before making decisions we need to make sure why are we making them, u need to weigh all the factors before making any decision, as mentioned by rentdollarinplay in one of his sick blogs, regarding the bet sizing if someone is calling ur Xbb raise, would he be calling if u r raising more, or if u want someone to fold would raising less do the job, these small decisions can make huge impact on your hourly rate. Similarly, Prabhat sir gave me the following advice, and probably the most important 1.

“The biggest advice I would give you is to study poker…and I don’t mean by just reading books and watching videos. That’s just learning ideas, but it’s not studying the game. The nature of this game is that you are trying to make the most profitable decisions, and those decisions depend on what you are opponent is doing.

There are two parts to poker. 1) Finding out what strategy your opponent/opponents are using in EVERY SINGLE POT at every single spot. 2) Selecting the correct counter-strategy. Part 2 is the easier part. The best poker players in the world will never make a mistake on Part 2″.

All your success in poker in the long term will actually depend on the above lines.my advice to everyone including myself would be to go through our hhs, try to analyse our decisions based on the above parameters and try to come up with the correct play for all the tricky spots, or post them in the forums to have them analysed. This way we all can improve our thought process and benefit from each other’s past mistakes.

It’s great to be a part of PGMP2 batch. Getting coached by adi sir can be a dream start to anyone’s poker career. he along with Vinay and Prabhat sir and other pg mentors ,taking out so much time to improve and help us with our game ,motivates u to work even harder to justify your selection to be mentored by them.i would also like to thank the pgmp2 members for sharing their thoughts and in some case notes for us (dv ur last class notes are due I guess…:P, 10k has made u lazy mahn…:P , p.s.thanks for the early motivation dose, and good luck to u and all the pg followers, have fun at the tables..

Time2Grind

November 28, 2012 in News

have been running bad for the last couple of weeks, not at the tables
though. just had my exams.also couldn’t play in MM3,was definitely
better prepared then the last 2 times, thanks to pgmp2. also wasn’t able
to attend the last session, though i went through the chat but
learning 1st hand is always better.

nice to know that others from pgmp2 are crushing the tables (congrats sahil), u guys are a great motivating source.
now the plan is to build my roll, would be playing a lot of 45’s and
the 180’s to build it. .due to pgmp having the right pre flop knowledge
regarding the different stages of tournament both deep and short
stacked would be very helpful,,180’s would be a good way to test it.

hope to have some good sessions before my next blog, till then hope u guys have a great time
