In its first week, a total of 15 players who accumulated the required points, won the special 9stacks Aussie Millions package, each worth ₹2 Lakhs. Prize Pool – ₹1,35,70,000

PokerBaazi’s The Moneymaker 7.0 attracted a total of 1,357 entries (715 entries and 642 re-entries) and generated a prize pool of ₹1.35 Crores making it one of the biggest online domestic tournaments in Indian history. While this extravaganza featured some big names from the Indian poker community including Sahil ‘CairyHunt’ Agarwal (3rd for ₹13.29 Lakhs), Anup ‘Rmanasa’ Palod (5th for ₹6.78 Lakhs) and Nishant ‘nishant177’ Sharma (10th for ₹1.69 Lakhs), it was the youngster Nikhil ‘stringbet710’ Sayilen who stole the show and cruised to the top to bag the massive ₹33.92 Lakhs top prize.

The eventual champion described his experience at the event, “During the tourney my stack went down to 4,000 but I managed to build it back up. A crucial moment for me was when I pulled off a huge bluff at the mid-stages of the event, which saw me take over the chip lead. Another important spot for me was when I folded the second nuts in a three-way pot. I believe that these two hands were extremely vital in my win. I actually played only 3 events in the entire PPL Autumn Edition because I wanted to save up for The MoneyMaker – I guess that worked out!”

That’s it for this week’s Sunday Online Railbird Report. We will be back next week with a roundup of all the major Sunday scores.

This Week in Poker: August 8 – 14

In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly round-up of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week`s top stories

It was a week of hectic activity, from exciting live action to numerous developments and announcements, the week saw it all. One of the biggest poker festivals of Asia, the nine-day Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) hosted at PokerStars Live Manila room in Philippines concluded this week. The series opened on August 4 and the chief attraction, Main Event ₱20M GTD attracted 1,384 players from all over Asia as well as other international circuits and went on to crush all the previous records in terms of participation numbers and prize pool. With ever-growing participation numbers, Team India represented the tricolor in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Indian turnout was huge in nearly all mega tournaments at the series and many big scores were brought home, including Chiraag Patel’s maiden international title win in the NLH Turbo event where he pocketed ₱350,000 (~₹4.56 Lakhs). Three Indians, namely, Sahil Agarwal (₱4,656,260 – ₹60.67 Lakhs), Akshay Nasa (₱2,822,000 – ₹36.67 Lakhs) and Kunal Patni (₱960,000 – ₹12.50 Lakhs) headlined the team`s performance with their runner-up scores in the ₱200,000 High Roller, APPT National and 6-Handed Shot Clock respectively. Overall, 42 scores were posted by Team India in the series. Agarwal also posted the biggest score by an Indian at the 2018 APPT Manila and is therefore our “PokerGuru Star of the Week”.

The domestic virtual felts witnessed intense action in several high value tournaments. While many popular poker sites dished out massive payouts, the show-stealer was Harshil ‘aeon’ Dhingra, who won the Baazi Super Sunday (BSS) ₹15 Lakhs GTD SuperStack on PokerBaazi for ₹3 Lakhs.

Back home, the biggest story this week was the Apple Inc. India purging all gaming apps submitted by individual developers from the iOS environment, even as PokerBaazi announced its Independence Day special ‘Freedom Series’ with ₹45 Lakhs GTD and Baadshah Gaming Live Tournament released the schedule for its 3rd edition to be held from September 30-October 8 onboard Casino Pride in Goa.

Adding Ranchi to the live tournament maps of the country, this week Indian Poker Association (IPA) announced the launch of first poker room in Ranchi in conjunction with its affiliate, East India Poker Association.

Meanwhile, PokerStars’ Asian partner International Entertainment Corporation (IEC) has indicated that the group may return to Macau for the Macau Poker Cup (MCP) at Studio city. After a 10-year run, the popular poker podcast TwoPlusTwo PokerCast was indefinitely suspended.

We wrap up this week’s recap with tournament reports from 2018 partypoker Live Millions Russia poker festival, Seminole Hard Rock Open events, 2018 WSOP Global Casino Championship, 2018 GUKPT Goliath, Star Sydney Championships Main Event and WPT Choctaw Main Event.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos Takes Down Zynga Poker WPT500 Las Vegas, Harshil Dhingra & Kunal Patni Run Deep

The mecca for poker players, Las Vegas is definitely the busiest this time of the year with the prestigious 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) currently underway at Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. Poker players from all around the globe throng the city to witness and be apart of this mega series with an array of options available in various tournaments running alongside the mega extravaganza.

One such major tournament that recently came to a conclusion was the Zynga Poker WPT500 Las Vegas. The first stop of Season 5 of WPT500 was held at Aria Resort and Casino, from June 25 – July 3. The $570 buy-in event featured nine starting flights along with Day 2 and Day 3, leading up to the finale. After a total nine days of action, Kyriakos Papadopoulos came out on top and walked away with the bragging rights of winning the title along with the $207,940 top prize.

From Team India came two spectacular performances from Harshil Dhingra and Kunal Patni, but both fell just shy of making it to the final table. Dhigra finished 12th for $16,450 (~ ₹11.30 Lakhs) while Patni finished 16th for $10,740 (~ ₹7.38 Lakhs). India’s Jasven Saigal was another who finished 116th for $1,900 (~₹1.30 Lakhs).

few days back World Poker Tour and Zynga Inc, a leading social game developer, announced Zynga Poker as the official title sponsor of WPT500, Las Vegas. The announcement came in as the first major development in the multi-year partnership between the WPT and Zynga Poker in the lead up to the new WPT-themed, in-game tournaments set to launch on Zynga Poker later this year. As title sponsor, Zynga Poker will be sending a group of VIP players to compete in one of the biggest and best poker events this year.

Final Table Recap

Day 3 began with the nine finalists taking down their seats to play for the $207,940 first-place prize. Leading the way at the start of the final table was the eventual champion Kyriakos Papadopoulos with a stack of 15.675 million.

The first elimination came in just after half an hour of play and it was Joseph Guarino who lost his tournament life in ninth place. Just 10 minutes later, another one hit the rail. Zynga Poker VIP Hugh Grant moved all in with and Chris Bell dropped in a few chips to signify a call with , and the remaining active players folded. With no help on the board , Grant was eliminated in eighth place.

Next to follow suite was Greg Gius as he moved all in for his remaining stack with and once again Chris Bell made the call with pocket nines. Although Gius had better outs and was in great shape to double up, the flop was alarming for him. The turn and river brought the two cards Gius was hoping to ditch, but as luck would have it, he was forced out of the final table.

Just three minutes later came the next elimination and it was James Morris who made an exit in sixth place.

The five-handed play went on for a long time before Chris Bell became the next casualty. Pre-flop action saw Bell and Papadopoulos moving all in. Bell held against Papadopoulos’ . With no help on the board, Bell left the final table in fifth place.

Following him out the door was Adi Ben Ami who couldn’t improve holding pockets tens over his opponent, Bobby Poe’s pocket jacks.

The three-handed play went on for another one hour before Hoan Nguyen got involved in a three-way hand against Bobby Poe and Papadopoulos. The pre-flop action saw a three-way showdown, Nguyen , Poe and Papadopoulos . Papadopoulos held the best hand and had a chance at a double knockout to end the tournament. The flop didn’t change much but the turn and the river gave trips to Poe and he went on to collect the monstrous stack eliminating Nguyen in the process.

After almost a two hour long heads-up battle a winner was found. From the button, Papadopoulos moved all in for 47,400,000 and Poe tanked for a while before making the call.
