This Week in Poker: January 27 – February 2

In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly roundup of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players and the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.

Here are this week’s top stories!

As we enter the first week of February, there is a lot of online action to look forward to, and that too after a blockbuster January. But before we get to what is to come, let us first look at what happened in the past week.

Dominating the virtual felts this past week was Spartan Poker’s IOPC January Edition. Bringing the curtains down on the record-shattering series was PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh, who trounced the 3,985-entry field in the IOPC The Crown to win a career-best ₹51.81 Lakhs. For his incredible run, Singh is hands down our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

Team PokerGuru made quite the splash at IOPC. Besides Singh, who won the magnum opus IOPC The Crown, several other PokerGuru Ambassadors left their mark at the series. These include Ashish Munot (final tabled IOPC The Millionaire Legends and IOPC Super High Roller), Kartik Ved (final tabled IOPC Millionaire Legends), Naresh Veeravalli (final tabled IOPC Super High Roller), Parikshit Dhall (ranked #5 on IOPC Leaderboard), and Young Gun Arjanveer Singh Chadha (ranked #7 on IOPC Leaderboard).

Two-time Millionaire champion Sriharsha Doddapaneni was another player who went on a tear at the IOPC. The player did the unthinkable at the series by winning both the IOPC High Roller and Super High Roller in a week`s time! The IOPC Super High Roller title fetched him a jaw-dropping ₹36.89 Lakhs!

The only event left to play out at the IOPC, the IOPC Masters Table started about an hour ago and got off to a slightly delayed start because of technical issues. Daily Majors: PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh Wins IOPC The Crown For a Career-Best ₹51.81 Lakhs!

Mondays are almost always the slowest day for online poker. Still, the last couple of weeks have been different, especially with Spartan Poker’s 10th IOPC edition keeping the action in top gear since January 18.

Bringing the series to a close (pending only the IOPC Masters Table) was the IOPC The Crown. The live-streamed FT on Monday turned out to be a spectator’s delight. It took under 90 mins of play for PokerGuru Ambassador Laksh Pal Singh to win the guarantee-smashing event, don the metaphorical crown, and collect a jaw-dropping ₹51.81 Lakhs payday!

Besides Singh, Avijit Jaiswal (runner-up for ₹29.92 Lakhs), Yudhishter Jaswal (3rd for ₹17.53 Lakhs), Saurabh Jain (4th for ₹14.14 Lakhs), and Suresh Kolli (5th for ₹11.55 Lakhs) secured seven-figure payouts in the IOPC – The Crown.

The 10th edition of the IOPC has been a raging success, but there is no denying that PokerGuru Ambassadors were a dominating force in the series. While Singh topped the list with his win last night, many others performed exceptionally well at the series. The first name that comes to mind is a no-brainer, i.e., Ashish Munot. The 2019 WPT India Main Event champion featured in two live-streamed final tables but sadly didn’t win either. Nevertheless, he placed runner-up in the IOPC#73 – The Millionaire Legends for ₹22.16 Lakhs and finished fourth in the IOPC#97 – Super High Roller for ₹13.72 Lakhs.

The MTT crusher Kartik Ved was another player in the thick of the action with multiple deep runs. His biggest score of the series was the ₹10.82 Lakhs he won from his fifth-place finish in the IOPC Millionaire Legends.

Naresh Veeravalli has been a consistent performer over the past few months, and his most notable performance in the IOPC came in the IOPC Super High Roller. He had entered the live-streamed final table as the shortest stack but managed to spin it up to a third-place finish for ₹16.90 Lakhs.

The IOPC January edition is now all but over, with just the IOPC Masters Table still left to play out. This special live-streamed event will take place on February 3, when the winners from the IOPC featured events, along with the IOPC leaderboard topper, will be vying for the bragging rights of becoming ‘The Mastermind,’ and the chance to win an exquisite AVENGER CHRONOGRAPH 43 BREITLING customized watch.
