Get Ready For PokerBaazi’s PPL Special Edition (April 21-28), ₹5+ Crores in GTD Prize Money & For a Special Cause
India’s most trusted poker site, PokerBaazi is coming back with its flagship series – PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) Special Edition. Sticking to its trend of bringing bigger and better tournaments to its player base which are rife with innovation and exciting action, PokerBaazi’s PPL Special Edition will offer more than ₹5 Crores in prize money guarantees, along with a unique twist. This time around, not only will players be able to participate in the thrilling action of the series, but a part of the rake collected will be donated towards the betterment of underprivileged girls in India making the upcoming series a special one for more reasons than one!
PokerBaazi has always been dedicated to the welfare of society and is intrinsically involved in social causes. Back in August 2018, the brand had organized the ‘PokerBaazi: Kerala Flood Relief Tournament’ to contribute to the relief assistance and aid of the victims of the devastating Kerala floods. On Women’s Day, March 8, this year, PokerBaazi had announced a partnership with a non-profit NGO and pledged to make a difference in society. With the #PlayForACause initiative that the brand has taken for its latest series, it seems that PokerBaazi has stayed true to its commitment.
PokerBaazi’s PPL Special Edition Just 1 Day Away
PokerBaazi has proven time and time again why they are one of India’s leading online poker brands. From their signature weekly tournaments to the immensely sought-after PPL series and the trendsetting tournament – The Game Changer ₹2 Crores GTD, PokerBaazi has always been on the cutting-edge of bringing the ‘next best thing’ to poker players in the country.
The brand’s latest offering – PPL Special Edition is scheduled to run from April 21-28. Comprising of 38 events, with a total guarantee of more than ₹5 Crores, the series will see many of PokerBaazi’s flagship tournaments like the BSS SuperStack, The Bout, The Vegas, ValueTown, The Endeavour, and The MoneyMaker for a part of the series. However, the brand has brought in quite a few changes as well to make the series more interesting for the players. For the first time in PPL history, The Endeavour will boast of a huge ₹50 Lakhs GTD and will be played across two starting flights, beginning on Sunday, April 21. Flights 1A and 1B will commence at 5pm and 9pm respectively, with Day 2 slated to begin at 8pm on Tuesday, April 23.
But that’s not all! Yesterday, CEO of PokerBaazi – Navkiran Singh – announced in a Facebook post that The Endeavour, much like The Game Changer, will have a multi-day format. And to shake things up further, instead of the conventional route where each starting flight plays out a pre-decided number of levels, each flight will instead play down to 10% of the field size. Following the closure of late registration, the number of players that each individual flight will carry forward to Day 2 will be depicted on the player’s screens. Surviving players will start Day 2 with stacks in the respective proportion of their Big Blind at which they ended the previous day.
PokerBaazi’s mainstay Sunday tournament, the BSS SuperStack, will be hosted twice during the series – on Day 1 and Day 8.
The showstopper of the series will undoubtedly be The MoneyMaker which will be starting at 7pm on April 28. Featuring a ₹1 Crore GTD, the event like its previous editions is sure to be a runaway success.

PokerBaazi Premier League – Previous Editions
The PPL has been a remarkable success story for PokerBaazi ever since its inception with guarantees and attendance records repeatedly being eclipsed.
Before ‘The Game Changer ₹2 Crores GTD’ which smashed its guarantee to collect a record-breaking prize pool of ₹3.7 Crores, the record for the biggest online tournament in the country was held by the PPL Summer Edition’18 Main Event which had collected a massive prize pool worth ₹1.39 Crores. The Main Event was won by Rubin “kornkid” Labroo, who walked away with ₹35.41 Lakhs in prize money. Ramlakhan “Hitler” Meena is another player who has a fond connection with the PPL series. A regular on the platform, Meena won two consecutive PPL editions in 2018 to top the yearly Leaderboard rankings that had a Harley Davidson motorcycle as the top prize!

This Week in Poker: December 12 – 18
In the PokerGuru feature ‘This Week in Poker’ we bring to you the weekly round-up of the biggest online scores by Indian MTT players along with the top stories from both the live and online poker circuit.
Here are this week`s top stories
2018 has been a breakout year for poker in India, with new milestones and landmark growth and development of the mind sport in the country. It’s only fitting that as the year end approaches, with each passing week we keep seeing some exciting new development and this past week was no different. The headline story was the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) Winter ’18 edition. The record-breaking series smashed its prize pool guarantee in several events and forced us to walk down the nostalgic path as our very first Young Gun Nitish Gupta came out on the top in the biggest event on the schedule, The MoneyMaker ₹1 Crore GTD for a massive ₹32.63 Lakhs payday. For his win, Gupta is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week”.
Sharing the limelight with Gupta was Sameer ‘Killersam’ Tavanandi who was adjudged the winner of the PPL Winter’ 18 Leaderboard and Ramlakhan ‘Hitler’ Meena who won the PPL Overall Yearly Leaderboard and will ride off into the sunset on his brand-new Harley Davidson bike!
Meanwhile, The Winter Series ₹1.65 Crores GTD on PokerStars India took off right as the PPL came to a close. Running from December 16-24, the series has already crowned several winners and headlining the list is yet another Young Gun Sharad ‘sordykrd’ Rao who won the Sunday Special Progressive KO ₹20 Lakhs GTD for ₹4.14 Lakhs.
In live tournament action, Manila Megastack 10 was the centre of attraction in the Asian circuit as a total of 26 events played out from December 7-16 at the PokerStars LIVE poker room in Okada, Manila. Indian challengers Harsh Dembla, Ankit Jajodia and Rohit Behal were in attendance and the trio posted a total of seven scores at the stop between them, with Dembla topping the list with three scores that got him a total ₱4,89,790 (₹6.63 Lakhs) in prize money.
A select group of Indian pros also made the trip down to 2018 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague, notably Team PokerStars pro Muskan Sethi but unfortunately, she couldn’t pick a score. The series is now nearing its closure with only two events left to announce winners – €5,300 EPT Main Event and €10,300 EPT High Roller.
The High Roller has reached its final table with only eight players remaining. Canada’s Daniel Dvoress presently holds 29% of the chips in play with a stack of 3,815,000.
