Chaos Beyond Belief

March 29, 2020 in Uncategorized

We are going through times that will shape the future to come. It’s how we react to this pandemic that is gonna make us. Bill Gates had warned the world that the next pandemic is gonna be a virus. We are so engrossed in our daily lives that we ignore these warnings. We need to have a greater appreciation for life and people. This global pandemic is just a show of how inefficient our systems can be if we continue this way. With over 500,000 reported cases worldwide as of now, the massive scale of the outbreak and its unpredictable nature is why authorities are facing such a difficult time containing this virus.

In the midst of this global pandemic, falling economic, and increasing everyday chaos, it really makes me sad to see how the government and people are still reacting to this. People failing to oblige with regulations laid by the government. A large number of people, mostly students and IT professionals being stopped on state borders, creating massive jams on highways due to miscommunication between authorities. In Bengal, the police have been accused of thrashing a man to death for going out to get milk. Labor migrants are forced to walk over 100 kms during this lockdown just to reach their home to stay safe.

Clearly, no one had ever anticipated this level of chaos.

People need to understand that staying away from each other is the only way they can avoid this. This virus can transform and recombine into multiple strains depending on its interaction with humans. In short, it can mutate. They are capable of replicating rapidly in multiple organisms. So far, there is no medicine or vaccination for this. The only way we can stay safe from it by social distancing.

It’s heavier than all other viruses and hence cant travel far. So keeping yourself away from anyone or anything that can potentially carry the virus is what we need to do to stop this. No matter how efficiently the govt comes out with a plan, with all that we know about the virus today, the only way we can avoid this tragedy is by being in complete lockdown.

Like all difficult times in history, this is going to pass too. However, what we choose to be once we get out of this, is going to shape the future to come. We can continue succumbing to never-ending greed, desires, and materialism and continue leading selfish lives. Or we can choose to open our eyes to see that all our actions are going to have consequences and make the required changes to make life better in the years to come.

Think Positively & Envision a Better Tomorrow

December 17, 2019 in News

The first thing I want to share with everyone who ends up reading this – similar to life, I have realized that poker is also a journey and we can’t let our frustrations build over time and take over because it’s the journey that matters and not the destination.

I have been on a terrible downswing lately, and currently, my focus is to be comfortable and not lose cool, even if the situation worsens. For, e.g. this downswing has been going for a pretty long time for me now, and it’s vital for me to not lose sight of where I need to be and analyzing why I am going through this in the first place.

Today I am going to be talking about how thinking positively can help any poker player envision a better tomorrow.

For context, recently, I went to a bootcamp with my coach Adi (Aditya Agarwal) and some other PokerGuru Staking members, and this bootcamp taught me several other important things and not just poker.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Adi because it’s been such a helpful trip for me on numerous levels.

It’s made me realize that as human beings, we are quite short-sighted, and this obviously has its consequences in poker. It’s imperative to not lose sight of what you’re working for. It’s crucial to feel good about yourself as that helps in changing the way you look at everything. It’s going to change your perspective while playing poker too. It’s essential to not let any doubts or insecurities get the better off you. At the same time, its crucial to study and understand the difference between the correct and incorrect move at every step.

Currently, I am trying to do everything that I would have done if I wasn’t in this downswing; instead of getting struck by it and getting into a dead zone. I made it a point to exercise, study, take breaks, and celebrate every now and then. I mean nothing big but just a small get together with friends, just to feel good about myself and to know that I am doing this for a reason. And to feel alive about it, simple.

Now, I would like to talk about the mistakes that we can rectify by thinking positively. The mistake that we usually make is either misinterpreting the situation or the application of a solution. As poker players, we find ourselves becoming victims of detrimental thinking and selective memory working negatively. This can be tackled with the help of positive thinking.

By tilting and letting negativity get to us, we allow our brains to fall back to detrimental thinking as these are triggered by memories in our subconscious, which we associate with similar negative events that happened in the past. By thinking positively, we allow our brains to be creative and come up with optimal solutions depending on the situation.

Signing off, I would like to share how excited I am about the January schedule. It’s going to be a great New Year, and I am coming for both the Baazi Poker Tour and India Poker Championship loaded and prepared with everything in my arsenal.

See you all at the tables!

Mental Fitness is my priority

November 27, 2018 in News

Hey everyone, Today I will be sharing my thoughts about metal fitness related to poker. The thing that I have realized is that it should be our number one priority as a player. So I have started cultivating habits like Trekking, yoga, been playing different sports to keep my mind always fresh and ready. There are so many things that we can do off the table that can affect our in-game decision making . And I am not talking about learning strategies and reviewing HH which obviously all of us do. But things that can get your mind to that level of genius where u just know what to do in every situation on the table, don’t even have to think twice. It obviously takes a lot of experience and study to reach that level. But good metal health can be a catalyst to it.

Some tips would be:
Daily Physical exercise
Yoga/Meditation
Eating food rich in nutrients essential for brain health
Read a lot of news and current affairs. Knowledge helps us think and analyze.
Get involved in some form of art/craft as it makes us creative.
Make time for your hobby. Its very important to keep our mind happy.
Play mental games. Any sort of exercise that stimulates thinking.
Make your thought process clear.

There are so many cognitive errors we as humans do on a daily basis. So many that it has become a habit. And these habits are the constraints which make it difficult to succeed.
Signing off now. Would like to recommend a book for everyone to read: “The Art of thinking Clearly” by Rolf Dobelli
Its a million copy bestseller and I guess a must read for everyone.

I Am Really Happy After Finally Converting a Deep Run Into a Title

February 8, 2019 in News

In my last blog, I spoke about the importance of mental health and today I want to reveal how it has helped me in my poker journey. I have been running deep in a lot of online tournaments for quite some time now but I just wasn’t able to convert them in title wins or even finish in the top three.

I believe the reason behind this string of deep runs without wins was mostly due to low concentration level brought on by fatigue from long hours of grinding, along with the lack of proper routine. I felt like all of this had a significant impact on my cognitive ability which affected my gameplay.

I decided to buckle down and work on improving these aspects and was successful in doing so. I now have a very positive feeling about my game and that has been evidenced by my recent win in PokerBaazi’s The Endeavour that I shipped on Tuesday. Besides that, I also finished runner-up in the Gayle Storm on Adda52 last Sunday. All in all, it definitely feels amazing to get a win under my belt after such a long gap. However, I still feel that I need to keep working hard to better my game.

I also want to throw light on the recent re-branding of AceJack to PokerGuru Staking and how it was played a major role in taking my game to the next level. PokerGuru Staking and my mentorship under Aditya Agarwal has helped me become a more confident player. I would also like to thank Vikram Kumar and Kartik Ved for their continuous trust and support in my journey.

Signing off now, I hope to continue my good form so that I may be able to blog more about the same and give upcoming players a chance to learn from my mistakes and successes. Good luck to you all. See you at the tables!
