After a somewhat sedated week, the virtual felts roared back to life with the commencement of PokerBaazi’s National Poker Series India 2023 and Spartan Poker’s India Turbo Masters!

One of the most consistent grinders of the domestic circuit, Ashish Munot (annual winnings – ₹2.25 Crores), has retained and extended his lead in the yearly rankings. A glance at his online results for the year will reveal that Munot currently has a 75% profit rate. His penchant for shipping some of the biggest-guaranteed tourneys of the year deservedly begets him the title of ‘showstopper killer!’

With the top three annual rankings remaining unchanged, Young Guns Gaurav Sood (annual winnings – ₹1.86 Crores) and Arsh Grover (annual winnings – ₹1.66 Crores) held on to their #2 and #3 ranks, respectively.

Ashish Munot‘s (monthly winnings – ₹85.11 Lakhs) ‘killing’ form also ensured that he closed out March as the monthly leaderboard topper.

Laksh Pal Singh (monthly winnings – ₹79.31 Lakhs) and Srihari Bang (monthly winnings – ₹73.45 Lakhs) finished in #2 and #3 positions.

Following a mid-week blister, Tanmay Benara (weekly winnings – ₹17.37 Lakhs) captured the top seat on the weekly charts. Ashish Munot (weekly winnings – ₹15.28 Lakhs) and Mohammad Azhar (weekly winnings – ₹13.75 Lakhs) finished #2 and #3 in the weekly standings.

Online Rankings: Divyanshu Agrawal Makes His Debut as #1 Ranked Player of the Week; Ashish Munot Extends Lead on the Monthly & Annual Leaderboard

In this feature, we bring you to the top three weekly, monthly, and yearly performers every Sunday. These rankings are based on cumulative winnings (cashes). However, the rankings only include players registered to our online ranking system, so hurry up and register if you haven’t signed up on PokerGuru yet!

The financial year-end is just around the corner, and this week was similar to the last, with nothing much to write home about. Given the subdued action, the top ranks on the annual and monthly leaderboards kept the status quo.

Ashish Munot (annual winnings – ₹2.02 Crores), who has already won two massive Super High Rollers this year, is still the player to catch on the yearly and monthly standings and the only one with over ₹2 Crores in annual earnings.

Although the “OG,” Munot, holds a commendable 29.50+ Lakhs lead over his closest competition, in poker, anything is possible. Young Gun’s Gaurav Sood (annual winnings – ₹1.73 Crores) and Arsh Grover (annual winnings – ₹1.66 Crores) finished the week how they entered it, ranked #2 and #3 on the yearly leaderboard, respectively.

However, with Spartan Poker’s India Turbo Masters (ITM) and PokerBaazi’s National Poker Series (NPS) rearing to go, a big Sunday haul by any leaderboard warrior can stir up the POY standings.

Like the annual rankings, the top three on the March leaderboard remained unchanged from last week, with Ashish Munot (monthly winnings – 84.20 Lakhs), Laksh Pal Singh (monthly winnings – ₹73.77 Lakhs), and Srihari Bang (monthly winnings – ₹73.45 Lakhs) retaining their #1, #2 and #3 positions.

Following a mid-week blister, Divyanshu Agrawal (weekly winnings – ₹9.48 Lakhs) captured the top seat on the weekly charts. Samyak Sethi (weekly winnings – ₹9 Lakhs) and Young Gun Neel Joshi (weekly winnings – ₹8.76 Lakhs) finished #2 and #3 in the weekly standings.

After securing the #2 rank in the March standings last week, courtesy of his masterful run in PokerBaazi’s The MoneyMaker 30.0, followed by a dazzling performance in Spartan Poker’s Final Table Series 6.0, he went on an unannounced hiatus. Bang’s MIA status opened the door for Laksh Pal Singh to take over the #2 rank, relating Bang to #3.

1. Ashish Munot

Yearly Cashes – ₹2,01,98,673

Yearly Profit – ₹1,32,96,373

Yearly Leaderboard Points – 9,108

Ashish Munot comfortably sits atop the POY rankings with a magnificent ₹29.51 Lakhs lead over the #2 ranked Gaurav Sood. This week was his third consecutive holding the pole position since he rose to the top after winning the FTS #46 Super High Roller earlier this month.

Spartan Poker’s India Turbo Masters 3.0 and PokerBaazi’s National Poker Series India 2023 sport a series of big-ticket events, which will give many other top pros plenty of opportunities to challenge Munot. On the other hand, Munot could easily pull further ahead should he bink another Super High Roller – something he is more than capable of pulling off.

Munot now has ₹2.02 Crores in annual winnings (₹1.33 Crores in profits), making him the first player to hit the ₹2 Crore milestone his year.

This Week in Poker: March 8 – March 14

In the PokerGuru feature, ‘This Week in Poker,’ we bring you the weekly round-up of the most significant online scores by Indian MTT players and the top stories from both the live and online poker circuits. Here are this week’s top stories!

The second week of March brought abundant action on the online and offline felts! The weekend was especially electrifying as Spartan Poker’s Final Table Series 6.0, PokerBaazi’s 1000X Seriers 3.0, PokerStars India’s MicroMillions 5.0, and IndiaPlays’ The Dominator Series reached a crescendo.

The live tournament action was equally astounding as the 2023 WPT Prime Cambodia went underway at the NagaWorld Integrated Resorts with a large Indian contingent in attendance.

The Sunday magnum opus was Spartan Poker’s ₹2 Crores GTD FTS #58 G.O.D. Ashish Ahuja became the first-ever FTS G.O.D champion, banking a jaw-dropping ₹27.55 Lakhs following a three-way deal. Despite his stellar win, Ahuja was not the week`s top scorer as WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer stole the show. The Young Gun‘s spectacular runs saw him accumulating ₹54.80 Lakhs this week, including two FTS gold medallions and The Master Table victory that landed him a Las Vegas package worth ₹10 Lakhs. For his phenomenal performance, Iyer is our “PokerGuru Star of the Week!”

Ashish Munot, Sreekanth Narayan, Srihari Bang, and Ankit Wadhawan were the other top scorers this past week.

After a hectic two weeks, the online poker crowd gets a few weeks of downtime before the biggest-ever National Poker Series India returns on PokerBaazi on March 29.

In the meantime, PokerDangal’s Dangal Micro Value Series will keep the micro-stakes player engaged from March 16 to 19 alongside IndiaPlays’ inaugural ₹35 Lakhs GTD Micro Poker League, which runs until April 2.

PokerMatch India is all set to host the much-awaited Poker Episode 2 – Turbo Weekend mini-series, which guarantees a staggering ₹1.70 Crores (over €200,000) in guaranteed prize money across 20 fast-paced tournaments from March 16 to 19.

PokerSaint has recently launched a captivating promotion named ‘Ace It,’ which spans 28 days and offers cash game players an opportunity to win from the guaranteed ₹10.50 Crores in rewards on the cash tables.

While the online tournaments have been low-key since the start of the week, the live action at the 2023 WPT Prime Cambodia has not. As of March 14, the Indian contingent at the series has registered 36 cashes, including 12 final table finishes and a title win.

Yearly Profit – ₹78,11,323

Yearly Leaderboard Points – 20,782

The winningest player on our tracked database, Gaurav Sood, has always been a late bloomer when it came to getting into the POY race – a trend we have seen both times he won the POY title.

He made early inroads this year, but it’s been a to-and-fro battle for the top position. Sood, currently attending WPT Prime Cambodia, banked his top score this week in Spartan Poker’s FTS #35 Wednesday Grande (2nd for ₹10.91 Lakhs). However, it wasn’t enough to contain Munot, and the Young Gun has slipped to #2 in the rankings after two weeks of dominating the annual charts.
