A Super Dose of The Millionaire!

The Millionaire today is one of the most awaited tournaments in the country. This flagship tourney was launched in September, 2016, promising a then-unheard-of ₹10 Lakhs to the winner. Manoj MRBLUE Pentakota had outlasted a field of 576 entries at the inaugural edition to win the ₹10.61 Lakhs up top. Following Pentakota’s footsteps in the second Millionaire event was Haider Madraswala, who topped 967 entries to win ₹12.08 Lakhs.

Over the years, The Millionaire aura has grown both in popularity and participation numbers, and the tournament has created no less than 66 Millionaires along the way!

Talking about The Millionaire set of offerings, former Millionaire champion, Srihari Bang, said, “I really think the tournament could be a little more deep rather than shallow. Nonetheless, I would also love to thank Spartan Poker for hosting Millionaire tournaments every weekend.”

Bang confirmed he’ll be playing both the Millionaires during the ongoing SSS. “Yes, of course, I will be playing both the Millionaire events. I plan to fire bullets till the rebuy period ends as there is so much value. My strategy would be to play tight aggressive throughout the tournament.”

Srihari Bang

We also reached out to another Millionaire champion, Jai Saha, to find if he will be getting in on the action eyeing a second Millionaire title, “Of course. Everybody plays with the intention to take it down. Will definitely be firing again because the tourneys have huge value (especially during lockdown where GTDs are being smashed). I haven’t pre-decided on the number of bullets. I’ll wing it based on how I’m feeling at the time!”

Saha lauded the structure of this flagship tournament. “I’m a big fan of the structure in these millionaire tourneys. They play quite deep up until the end, and the up top is usually huge, which helps keep the motivation and concentration alive.”

Jai Saha

In its inaugural outing, the tournament crowned winners in PokerGuru Ambassador Ashish’ Donkey07’ Munot, Nitish’ buttonclicking’ Gupta, ‘Secretariat’, ‘Giraffeganger_1’ and Eka’ gettingthere’ Vedantham.

Since then, three more Millionaire X5 editions have played out – all of them registering smashing turnouts!

Daily Majors: Sharma Extends Winning Streak to 3rd Day; Jain, Bhardwaj, Kwatra & Labroo Hit the Big Thursday Scores

The action was fast and furious on Thursday with the Spartan Super Series (SSS) taking flight on Spartan Poker! Seven SSS tourneys ran their course on the opening day of the series. The 11-day series features a prize pool guarantee of ₹11 crores and will run all the way through April 19.

While there’s an SSS The Millionaire X5 coming up on Sunday, the biggest Thursday tourney on Spartan Poker was the SSS #5 Ultron ₹35 Lakhs GTD. The ₹4,400 buy-in tourney garnered 956 entries (426 unique, 168 re-entries and 362 rebuys), quickly smashing its sizeable guarantee with a prize pool collection of ₹38.24 Lakhs. Jaipur-based Paras ‘AAKKQQJJ’ Jain dominated the field, including his heads-up opponent and former BPT Main Event champion Bharat ‘bharat29’Suda to capture the title for a ₹6.14 Lakhs paycheque. Suda`s runner-up finish fetched him ₹5.73 Lakhs. Seasoned pro Kunal ‘TiltAtma’ Patni (4th for ₹2.52 Lakhs) also ran deep in the tourney.

Another top pro who made it to the winner`s club on Thursday was the 2020 India Poker Champion Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo. The online reg came out on top of 473 entries (247 unique, 48 re-entries, and 178 rebuys) in the SSS #6 Big Bounty ₹8.50 Lakhs GTD and defeated ‘minkstaa’(runner-up for ₹1.26 Lakhs) heads-up to win ₹1.89 Lakhs. Along with bounties, Labroo’s final takeaway in the tourney was ₹3.08 Lakhs. The tournament surpassed its guarantee by almost a Lakh, collecting ₹9.46 Lakhs in prize money.

Not stopping at this, Labroo went on to make a sixth-place finish in PokerBaazi’s Thursday mainstay tourney, The Summit ₹15 Lakhs GTD, winning ₹1.19 Lakhs. The flagship tourney attracted 180 unique entries and 198 re-entries, making for a mammoth prize pool of ₹28.35 Lakhs. With 45 finalists taking home a slice from the prize money, it was anonymous player ‘guggu’ who rose to the top to win ₹5.95 Lakhs. Young Gun Ujjwal ‘Mr_Robot’ Narwal finished runner-up for ₹4.16 Lakhs.

The smaller version of the tourney, the Summit Mini ₹7.5 Lakhs GTD, couldn`t match the turnout figures of the bigger Summit. Registering 228 entries (117 unique and 111 re-entries), the tourney suffered a sizeable ₹66,000 overlay. It was another anonymous player ‘Imperative’ who emerged the champion and earned ₹1.76 Lakhs after pipping Aditya ‘hashoil’ Sardana (runner-up for ₹1.24 Lakhs) to the finish line.

Thursdays are also when the popular Godfather takes place on Adda52. Part of the ongoing Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS), the AOPS Godfather ₹30 Lakhs GTD, drew 956 runners (442 unique and 476 re-entries), collecting a gigantic ₹45.90 Lakhs prize pool. The final table was a reg-infested once with top names like Chirag ‘mahikk’ Bhardwaj (runner-up for ₹6.05 lakhs), Sajal ‘sa_jal’ Gupta (3rd for ₹4.13 Lakhs),

Chiraag ‘vipervenom’ Patel (4th for ₹3.12 Lakhs) and Dhaval ‘dirtyzoso’ Mudgal (6th for ₹1.39 Lakhs) in contention. Outlasting them all was ‘victoriasecret,’ who took down the title along with a seven-figure payday worth ₹10.55 Lakhs.

These last two days, we have been writing a lot about Nishant Sharma and for a good reason. The poker pro has been on a rampage since Tuesday when he took down the three featured tournaments across the major platforms. Wednesday again, he returned to win his fourth title. Extending his winning streak to the third consecutive day, Sharma snagged title number five last night. Proving that he’s just as adept in PLO as NLHE, Sharma beat out a field of 145 entries (68 unique and 77 re-entries) to win the AOPS PLO High Roller ₹12.5 Lakhs GTD for a cool ₹3.91 Lakhs. This win has taken Sharma`s weekly tally to over ₹28 Lakhs! Notably, Sharma also final-tabled the SSS #6 Big Bounty ₹8.50 Lakhs GTD, finishing 6th for ₹44,178.

PokerStars India Team Pro Muskan Sethi was another circuit reg who found herself in the reckoning to win a major title. Sethi stormed past a field of 238-strong entries (129 unique and 109 re-entries) in the site’s featured Thursday tourney, the Highroller ₹15 Lakhs GTD, where she came up against online reg Guneet ‘GSK1515’ Kwatra in the heads-up play. Kwatra, however, wasn`t giving up without a fight, and he won the title relegating Sethi to a runner-up finish. Kwatra pocketed the top prize worth ₹3.21 Lakhs from the ₹16.66 Lakhs prize pool. Sethi pocketed a runner-up payday worth ₹2.37 Lakhs.

The other featured event on the site was the Thursday Thrill ₹5 Lakhs GTD, where ‘vinaash’ trounced a field of 160 entries (92 unique and 68 re-entries) to win the ₹96,018 first-place cash prize!
