Daily Majors: Sam Anand, Suraj Rathi & Sagar Choudhury Take Down the Monday Majors

The India Poker Championship (IPC) made a historic comeback last week, and while the records were tumbling on the live felts, the online felts took a massive beating with all major sites registering overlays these past few days. With the IPC now in the rear-view mirror, the virtual felts are all set to resurge.

Nevertheless, it was still a slow Monday and the overlay-saga continued on most poker sites, albeit for significantly lesser amounts. Adda52’s Goa Fest ₹10 Lakhs GTD had an overlay of ₹77,896 via 214 entries (113 unique and 101 re-entries). The event was won by ‘yash1993’ who collected ₹2.78 Lakhs. Ankit ‘kasatankit’ Kasat emerged victorious in the other big guarantee event on Adda52 last night, the Hexagram ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD, collecting ₹62,581 in prize money.

PokerBaazi’s signature Monday tournament, The Bout ₹10 Lakhs GTD, attracted 204 entries (116 unique and 88 re-entries), resulting in a shortfall of ₹1.02 Lakhs. Sam ‘thereallokimon’ Anand, has been one player we have written a lot about recently and for all the right reasons. He has undoubtedly been one of the more consistent winners on the virtual felts for some time now and even made his way to Goa to play the IPC. While the glory at the live felts may have eluded him this time, Anand more than made up for it by final tabling two of the biggest guaranteed events last night. Not only did Anand champion The Bout for a handsome payday worth ₹2.41 Lakhs, but he also finished runner-up in Adda52’s Goa Fest for ₹1.62 Lakhs. The other featured event on PokerBaazi, the Monday MegaStack ₹3 Lakhs GTD, crowned a winner in Devrat ‘vickypune’ Singh who won ₹80,400.

Spartan Poker’s Spartan Super Series (SSS) kicked off yesterday and the featured event on the opening day of the 7-day series was the SSS #5 ReCharge ₹12 Lakhs GTD which pulled in 636 entries (294 unique, 127 re-entries and 215 rebuys), smashing its guarantee to collect a prize pool worth ₹12.72 Lakhs. Suraj ‘OmgRATHIII’ Rathi clinched the title, along with a winner’s paycheque of ₹2.07 Lakhs. ‘Grinderrr’ shipped the SSS #6 Hi-Fi ₹5 Lakhs GTD for ₹93,684.

PokerStars India’s Monday Hustle ₹6 Lakhs GTD was another event that fell short of meeting its guarantee last night – although by just ₹15,900. Online regular Sagar ‘sagarpupull’ Choudhury took down the title, bagging a ₹1.19 Lakhs payday. ‘MojoJojo2193’ won the Zoom 3-Max Progressive KO ₹2 Lakhs GTD on PokerStars India for ₹45,639, following a three-way deal.

9stacks’ daily mainstay event, StackUp @8PM ₹2.5 Lakhs GTD, saw Guddu ‘skyline’ Chaudhary trounce a field of 152 entries (128 unique and re-entries, 24 rebuys), taking away ₹65,000 in the process.

With the IPC now done and dusted, the next live poker tournament series on the horizon is the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT), from October 9 to 14, followed by the WPT India series that starts immediately afterwards from October 15 to 21. Until the BPT commences, there will be nearly three weeks of thrilling online action available for the poker fans. Catering to low-to-mid stakes players, Poker Dangal’s ‘Dangal 100 Max Series’ has taken flight today and will run till September 21. There is also the PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) that kicks off from September 20.

In the end, it was ‘yash1993’ who climbed to the top of the field to claim the title. A regular on the site, the player, had on September 9, missed his shot at the Mega Suits title, finishing runner-up for ₹3.53 Lakhs. This time he defeated Sam ‘Lokimon’ Anand heads-up to bank the winner’s cheque of ₹2.78 Lakhs. Anand, who was the standout performer last night, pocketed ₹1.62 Lakhs for finishing second.
