Warming up for PGT

Sadly I have been a bit ill for most of last week and wasn’t at all in the right frame of mind to play too much, so I hadn’t played much. For whatever time I was able to play I had put in a lot more time playing 6-max cash games.

I did this because I realized that I really need to improve my deep-stack game and ability to find spots to pick up chips easily, this has been one of the weaknesses in my game till recently, and I know its impossible to perform optimally in tournaments without picking up chips early on. Whenever the high stakes cash-game players take a break from their tournaments and drop into to the tournaments, they seem to accumulate big stacks in the early going. This isn’t by accident, they are very good at picking up enormous numbers of pots where neither player has much.
One thing abt the Indian tournament scene is that structures have been consistently improving over this year and I can only see them getting better. Now all the 10/15k+ events as well as rebuys have good structures which give you time to accumulate chips, so these skills are very important.

With a bit of effort my cash game skills have been improving a bit and I have been winning a decent amount despite the odd moment here or there where I throw away a stack with a very random bluff. Fortunately my health is much better now and I can’t wait for the PGT. More than anything I want to play my A game. I will post updates of my PGT tourneys with any interesting hands that come up. Cheers!
